After explaining the origin of the title “Pokemon Legends: Z-A “, it appears that the game may bring back a specific Mythical Pokemon, given its new style of trainer battles and the concept of Z-A Royale. Slated for release in late 2025, Game Freak is hyping up fans with fresh gameplay teasers featuring exciting new elements. These include unveiling the trio of intergenerational starter Pokemon, revamping the battle mechanics, and introducing a new ranked battling system, “Z-A Royale,” which could replace gyms and leagues in “Pokemon“.
In addition to achieving the objective of upgrading from Rank Z to Rank A in Game Freak’s Game Freak, it has been suggested that attaining the highest rank in the Z-A Royale will grant trainers a single wish. While it’s not uncommon for Pokemon games to incorporate bizarre and fanciful narratives, such as Wishing Stars and Pieces being connected to the Dynamaxing aspect of Pokemon Sword and Shield, it is peculiar that Pokemon Legends: Z-A would label its reward as a “wish.” Since wishes are not associated with the backstory of Zygarde, the mascot Legendary in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and considering Mega Evolutions are making a comeback, this could be a hint at the possible return of Jirachi, the Wish Pokemon.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s Battle Royale’s Wish Could Be Crucial to its Story
After the unveiling of Legends: Z-A, there has been much discussion about potential links between Lumiose City’s renewal and Zygarde’s function in preserving Kalos’ ecological equilibrium. This connection might explain why Zygarde serves as the Legendary Pokemon for the game Legends: Z-A, given its recurring appearances in the game’s promotional trailers. However, the introduction of the Z-A Royale and its wish-granting prize has sparked fresh doubts about the narrative of the game. Although this “wish” could be just an unusual term and may align with Legends: Z-A‘s Quasartico Inc., it seems to contradict what we currently understand about Zygarde’s history.
Zygarde Doesn’t Fit The Mold For Granting Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s Wish
As a devoted Pokémon fan, I’ve always been captivated by the exceptional nature of Zygarde – its intriguing 10%, 50%, and Complete forms that first made an appearance in Pokémon X and Y, and were later refined in Pokémon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, and Ultra Moon. Its unique status among Legendary Pokémon has always set it apart. The hint of a “Pokémon Z” moment with the announcement of Legends: Z-A seems to suggest that Game Freak is preparing a significant role for this extraordinary Pokémon. While I’ve always wondered if Zygarde might return to halt Lumiose City’s reconstruction, what intrigues me most is that, unlike Generation 5’s Kyurem and the hypothetical “Pokémon Gray,” Zygarde has yet to be a Pokémon that grants wishes.
The upcoming game “Legends: Z-A” may encounter conflicts with its predecessor “Pokemon Legends: Arceus,” as the latter used a Mythical Pokemon (Zygarde) to explain time travel. However, though Zygarde is hinted in leaked Mega Evolutions, its role doesn’t align with “Legends: Z-A”‘s wish-granting theme. Yet, the reintroduction of Mega Evolutions and Quasartico Inc. might give us clues about which Mythical Pokemon could play a part instead.
Between Mega Evolutions and Wishes, Jirachi Could Return in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

In a potential twist, the star-named Quasartio Inc., inspired by Jirachi – known as the Wish Pokemon – might signal Jirachi’s impending comeback in Legends: Z-A. Additionally, since Mega Evolutions were last showcased in Gen 3 remakes, Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the reintroduction of Mega Evolutions could potentially extend to Mythical and Legendary Pokemon, including Primal Reversions for Zygarde and Jirachi. This intertwining of storylines in Legends: Z-A could hint at Jirachi’s return, with Quasartico Inc. misusing Jirachi’s wish-granting abilities, taking control of Lumiose City, and reawakening Zygarde, leading to the Z-A Royale possibly alluding to this comeback.
