During Nintendo’s presentation for the Switch 2, they started by sharing additional information about the previously announced Mario Kart game. Following a demonstration of Mario Kart World and new communication features, they delved into the specifications of their latest hardware. While many fans and experts had already speculated about the system’s specs, the presentation removed any lingering doubts about the enhanced system’s offerings compared to the original Switch.

In a January announcement, it appeared as though the Switch 2 might feature an 8-inch screen, but Nintendo’s recent Direct clarified that its built-in display measures 7.9 inches instead. As predicted by many, this upgrade in screen size offers enhanced visual quality, boasting a resolution of 1080p and frame rates as high as 120fps. Additionally, it supports High Dynamic Range (HDR) in compatible games and variable refresh rates to ensure a smoother gaming experience with clearer graphics. When connected to a TV for docking, the Switch 2 can display 4K visuals, though the frame rate will cap at 60fps when running at this resolution.
