There’s been talk circulating that a new anime adaptation is likely for another manga penned by renowned author Hiromu Arakawa, such as “Daemons of the Shadow Realm,” which has been serialized since 2021. Following the airing of the anime adaptation of her 2006 autobiographical manga, “Noble Farmer,” in 2022 and her role in producing the upcoming Spring 2025 sci-fi anime title, “Moonrise,” produced by WIT Studio, this could be the next manga of Arakawa’s to get an animated treatment.
Excitedly, I can’t help but share my anticipation for the upcoming “Daemons of the Shadow Realm” anime adaptation! However, with no official cast, crew, or production details unveiled as of now, it’s all just speculation and wishful thinking on my part. Here’s hoping for an announcement soon!
What’s Daemons of the Shadow Realm?
Not THAT Shadow Realm

Titled “Yomi no Tsugai,” or “Daemons of the Shadow Realm” in English, is a supernatural manga series penned by Hiromu Arakawa, famously known for Fullmetal Alchemist. The story revolves around fraternal twins Asa and Yuru, who, unbeknownst to them, were destined to govern ethereal beings called “Daemons” as the Children Who Separate Day and Night. However, they are kept in the dark about their true origins. One day, their peaceful village is ambushed by a mysterious band of mercenaries seeking Yuru. Intriguingly, the head of this group is none other than Yuru’s twin, who Asa has grown up with, though not necessarily beside, his sister Asa.
These beings are often referred to as various terms such as ghosts, yokai, monsters, demons, aliens, among others. In essence, they are commonly known as the “Opposite Entities” or simply put, the “Supernatural Creatures.

Currently, there haven’t been any confirmed reports about the anime adaptation of the series. But, the buzz surrounding the rumors is palpable, as Arakawa is renowned among anime fans for their exceptional storytelling skills. Here’s hoping these whispers prove to be true, especially with a new wave of shōnen anime and manga emerging.
It’s important to note that, as of now, there hasn’t been any official confirmation about an anime adaptation of “The Daemons of the Shadow Realm“. However, you can get your hands on the manga version by visiting Square Enix’s Manga website and making a purchase.
