Enthusiasts of the upcoming game “Hollow Knight: Silksong” have been given a fresh glimpse into its visuals, as new screenshots showcase refined versions of locations previously glimpsed in the 2019 trailer. With the anticipated release of “Hollow Knight: Silksong” slated for later this year, these snapshots serve as tantalizing previews of the game’s ongoing development process.
After the outstanding achievement of the 2017 game Hollow Knight, Team Cherry declared a sequel in 2019. The unveiling trailer showcased a visually stunning world like the original, but what set Hollow Knight: Silksong apart was its new playable character – not the Knight, but Hornet, who was introduced in the first game. This new character, along with breathtaking landscapes and tougher bosses, has generated a lot of excitement since its initial reveal. Unfortunately, fans have been eagerly waiting for it to come out for six years now. Luckily, we learned recently that the game is still on schedule for a 2025 release, as hinted by a short clip shown in the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct on April 2.
After the intriguing sneak peek for the upcoming game, fresh screenshots have emerged on the Nintendo Japan website, as pointed out by indie developer mossbag69 on Twitter. Three new images were posted, showcasing locations that were initially shown in the 2019 trailer. As per mossbag69’s analysis, these images display Bellhart city, the Lace fight, and the starting room. Furthermore, mossbag69 shared comparisons on social media, emphasizing how these locations have evolved since 2019. Notably, Bellhart has undergone significant changes, with its background becoming more blurry and adjustments made to surrounding bugs. It is noteworthy that the Lace fight and starting area were previously glimpsed in a few PlayStation images following the 2019 reveal.
Hollow Knight: Silksong Images Give Updated Look at Locations
Although these fresh images don’t uncover unknown places, they’ve sparked enthusiasm among fans who have been on tenterhooks for additional insights about Hollow Knight: Silksong. A tweet from mossbag69 has garnered over 37K likes, demonstrating the buzz surrounding the next installment from Team Cherry.
It turns out there’s more than just the new screenshots about the game that fans have been learning recently. Team Cherry also shared an update on Hollow Knight: Silksong, confirming its release for Nintendo Switch. After the game was announced for the newer Switch 2, some players were worried it might bypass the original Switch. However, Matthew Griffen, who handles marketing and publishing, alleviated these concerns with a social media post, stating that the game will indeed be coming to the 2017 system as well.
As a dedicated Hollow Knight: Silksong fan, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the recent updates that have kept the game alive and kicking. Truth be told, there were moments when I feared it might never see the light of day. Yet, while we don’t have an exact release date yet, the developer has managed to keep us engaged and excited, leaving us eagerly awaiting more specifics about this highly anticipated sequel.
