After a grueling three-year hiatus, the much-anticipated animated anthology series Love, Death & Robots is set to grace our television screens once more, with its release date just around the corner. Since its debut in 2019, the critically acclaimed first three seasons have garnered numerous awards, including 13 Emmys and one for Outstanding Short Form Animated Program. In recognition of his exceptional work on the popular Jibaro episode from Season 3, Alberto Mielgo, a multiple award-winning animator, was awarded the juried Emmy for outstanding individual achievement in animation.
This adult animated series has featured well-known voice actors like Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Joel McHale, Topher Grace, John DiMaggio, Elodie Young, and Chris Parnell since it debuted. Over the years, numerous shows similar to Love, Death & Robots‘ style have appeared, some more successful than others. Although Secret Level, an adult animated anthology series on Amazon Prime Video, received acclaim for its innovative video game concept, particularly its chilling “Pac-Man” episode, it didn’t quite match the success of Love, Death & Robots. Critics often pointed out issues with its short episodes and slow pace. However, to recapture its striking visuals and captivating anthology style, season 4 of Love, Death & Robots is almost here, and its latest trailer promises to mesmerize viewers once more.

I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be diving back into the captivating world of Love, Death + Robots starting May 15th! This adult animated anthology series from Netflix promises a fresh batch of stories set in futuristic landscapes brimming with advanced technology and intriguing characters. The fourth season offers an array of tales featuring dinosaur gladiators, cyborg women, judgmental ginger cats, even talking appliances, all woven together in a tumultuous blend of horror, sci-fi, comedy, and dark humor. David Fincher and Tim Miller will reprise their roles as executive producers, with Jennifer Yuh Nelson once again taking the helm as supervising director. I can’t wait to join you on this journey!
Similar to its previous installments, the upcoming season of Love, Death & Robots is expected to contain graphic violence, explicit content, adult themes, and strong language, as hinted at in its latest preview. This suggests that it may not be suitable for younger viewers. The trailer also reveals that each self-contained episode will showcase a unique storyline and animation style, with various animation studios from around the world contributing to their respective episodes. Notably, George R.R. Martin, creator of Game of Thrones, has commended the animation quality of Love, Death & Robots, expressing his wish for one of his animated spin-offs to resemble it in some way.
Love, Death & Robots season 4 will be released on Netflix on May 15th.
