Overwatch 2’s Next LE SSERAFIM Collab Could Surprise Fans with Unlikely Male Heroes!

The collaboration between Overwatch 2 and the K-pop group LE SSERAFIM has been incredibly popular, pushing the game into the global top 10 and 19th spot during each event it was active. Usually, Overwatch 2, without a new season or partnership, remains just outside the top 100.

Alongside the reappearance of Overwatch 2’s ANTIFRAGILE skins for the K-pop group LE SSERAFIM in August 2024, marking their “Perfect Night” Music Video surpassing 100 million views, it’s clear that these collaborations have been a hit. Consequently, if Overwatch 2 were to further expand these partnerships and collaborate with LE SSERAFIM again for new cosmetics in the future, it would be highly anticipated. This anticipation might increase significantly if Team 4 decided to focus on creating male characters as well.

Overwatch 2’s LE SSERAFIM Collab Is Deserving of a Third Round

Fans Express Desire for More Variety in Future K-Pop Collaboration Skins

In a chat with Polygon, Aimee Dennett, Overwatch’s Associate Director of Product Management, explained the reasoning behind the FEARLESS LE SSERAFIM skins. Collaborating closely with Blizzard Korea Studio and also working hand-in-hand with LE SSERAFIM themselves, the band members shared their preferences for the heroes they wanted to see sporting these skins. While it was suggested that the band members had a hand in choosing which heroes would get these cosmetics, this wasn’t explicitly confirmed. Nevertheless, Art Director Dion Rogers mentioned in the same discussion about the LE SSERAFIM Overwatch collaboration that the team initially tried to picture which hero on their roster might be a fan of LE SSERAFIM or enjoy their music.

Considering the context, several female characters from Overwatch would fit well for a collaboration with a K-pop girl group, but it would also be great if Blizzard included male characters in future collaborations if they decide to continue this crossover. At present, only Junkrat and B.O.B., Ashe’s Omnic butler, have received skins inspired by the LE SSERAFIM collaboration. To provide some background, Junkrat’s free Legendary skin, Fawksey James, was previously obtainable through challenges in the limited-time Concert Clash mode, while B.O.B.’s security guard outfit could be bought together with Ashe’s FEARLESS skin during Season 15 of Overwatch 2.

At present, only male-presenting characters – specifically, Junkrat and B.O.B. – have been collaborated with for character skins by LE SSERAFIM.

Some supporters expressed their desire for Lucio, an underground DJ and renowned character in the Overwatch universe, to receive a valiant skin known as FEARLESS. Others speculated that if the Concert Clash game mode resurfaced or a new mode inspired by LE SSERAFIM was introduced, Lucio could potentially earn a free Legendary skin similar to Junkrat’s from 2023. Although this didn’t transpire, the possibility lingers as a third collaboration with LE SSERAFIM might even incorporate “Blue Flame” remixes of the FEARLESS skins.

A playful yet daring turn might involve Blizzard introducing male characters who might initially seem unfamiliar with K-pop. For example, Reaper, often depicted as tough and brooding, could secretly adore LE SSERAFIM. Similarly, Reinhardt, known for his heavy armor and advanced age, could surprise us with a delightful dance animation. Fans are also speculating that Ramattra, given the promotional images of him watching the girls at a concert, might be invited next time. This could align well since Ramattra is expected to receive a dance emote soon, as confirmed by Senior Hero Producer Kenny Hudson in late February.
