During its debut week, I found myself binge-watching the Devil May Cry animated series nonstop, as it soared to become one of the top four most-watched shows on Netflix! With a staggering 5.3 million views and an impressive 21 million hours of watch time, it’s clear that this action-packed series captured the hearts of fans like me everywhere.
A week since its premiere and reaching significant milestones, Netflix has confirmed that there will indeed be a second season for Devil May Cry.
The initial season of the animated series based on Devil May Cry was developed by Adi Shankar, who is recognized for his contributions to other game adaptations like Castlevania, Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, and more recently, Devil May Cry.
In the initial season’s narrative, we focused on Dante, the famed demon slayer and central character, battling the cunning White Rabbit. His objective was to wreak havoc across Earth, exploiting a world already teeming with supernatural entities.
Where is Devil May Cry VI Though?
The popularity of the Devil May Cry animated show leaves one pondering: Where on earth is Devil May Cry 6? Not too long ago, Reuben Langdon, who has long voiced Dante, hinted at Devil May Cry 6 in an interview.
Initially, he seemed to have made a slip of the tongue, but later clarified that he intended to refer to Devil May Cry 5. Time will tell if his original statement was an error or a hint towards an unannounced Devil May Cry 6 project.
Given the devoted fan base of Devil May Cry and the triumph of Netflix’s series, it seems logical that Capcom might want to explore the possibility of creating a sequel in the near future.
By 2024, Hideaki Itsuno, renowned for his work on the Devil May Cry and Dragon’s Dogma franchises, moved on from Capcom to focus on a yet-to-be-revealed project. Consequently, any future sequels will be helmed by a different director.
