Summary
- 15 select Pokemon in Tera Raids have the highest chance of dropping multiple Herba Mysticas for shiny hunting.
- Gengar, Drifblim, and Amoonguss are standout 5-Star Raid Pokemon for players seeking precious sandwich ingredients.
- Each Tera Raid Pokemon, like Palafin, Dusknoir, and Malamar, presents unique challenges and rewards for players.
In the team-based multiplayer mode of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, known as Tera Raids, there are numerous Pokemon that players can battle. These battles yield various rewards, including the “boss” Pokemon itself. Although all the participating Pokemon drop useful items for the players, some especially promoted Raids provide even better loot. However, a small group of Pokemon outshine the rest in terms of effectiveness.
Among Scarlet and Violet’s essential assets lies a diverse array of Herba Mystica flavors, mainly utilized to boost chances during shiny hunting endeavors. Out of the numerous Tera Raid Pokémon options, fifteen possess a greater likelihood of dispensing multiple Herba Mysticas, either identical or different in flavor. These 5-Star Pokémon are indispensable for players seeking this scarce sandwich ingredient, with no specific order dictating their importance.
16. Gengar
The Original Ghost Pokemon
As a gamer, I’ve found that even when Gengar doesn’t have a STAB Tera type, it still packs quite the punch, with moves like Shadow Ball and Sludge Bomb making it a formidable foe on the battlefield.
Choosing to defeat Gengar is an obvious decision, given its slight possibility of releasing Herba Mystica. Despite being a strong Ghost and Poison-type, Gengar tends to fit the profile of a glass cannon in Pokemon, equipped with several strategies for inflicting status conditions and lowering defenses. Notably, since Gengar no longer possesses the Levitate ability, defeating it should be straightforward with any Tera type you have at your disposal.
15. Drifblim
High-Flying Raid Boss
Among the less intimidating 5-Star Raid Pokemon, Drifblim presents an opportunity to attack every kind of Herba, but it comes with bothersome abilities. Tending more towards defense, Drifblim’s Raids are usually endurance tests rather than quick races.
Fighting against the ominous Drifblim air balloon can be quite an ordeal when equipped with Will O Wisp, Thunder Wave, Hex, and Air Slash. However, experienced players should find that this Pokemon isn’t particularly difficult if they have the right creatures in their team, especially considering its Tera type may vary randomly. Choosing Azumarill without a suitable strategy might not yield the best results.
14. Amoonguss
A Useful Meme
When the unpredictable Tera type happens to be vulnerable to Grass, it’s wise to focus on Amoonguss, as this Pokemon performs particularly well in such situations. Although any Tera type for Amoonguss could work, there is indeed an optimal choice.
In an optimal situation for battling an Amoonguss, a Grass-type Pokémon is beneficial since it becomes immune to the Spore move’s sleep effect, giving faster access to Herba. Additionally, having Pokémon on your team that prioritize keeping others healthy over causing damage can be advantageous, but overwhelming Amoonguss with raw power to overcome any status conditions it may inflict is another effective strategy.
13. Palafin
Zero To Hero
Although Palafin doesn’t transform into its superhero form during a Tera Raid, it remains a potential concern due to its abilities like Rain Dance and Bulk Up. Without the added advantages that come with turning from a regular form to a heroic one, it won’t pose much of a tough challenge.
Fighting against Palafin can pack a punch thanks to its abilities like Acrobatics and Liquidation. However, since its stats aren’t boosted without the form switch, defeating it shouldn’t be overly difficult. The real challenge lies in locating a Palafin listing without mistaking it for Finizen.
12. Eelektross
The Power Of Levitate
The electric eel Pokemon, Eelektross, often appears as a dual type, and it’s typically straightforward as a Raid boss, provided its Tera type isn’t Electric. Armed with robust special moves such as Flamethrower and Discharge, this Pokemon can pose a significant danger to those Pokemon that are vulnerable to these potent attacks.
In most situations, Eelektross has the unique ability to hover above the ground, making it largely resistant to Ground-type attacks. Although it can still be harmed in other ways, battles against it are likely to drag on, since it is not vulnerable to Electric-type moves’ one weakness.
11. Glalie
Hoenn’s Hockey Mask
Glalie is often considered quite effective in Tera Raids, since its average attack statistics won’t pose much danger, and its typical move selection doesn’t alter this fact.
Despite Glalie creating snowy conditions, its Ice-type attacks aren’t exceptionally strong. The physical moves, Crunch and Headbutt, can be frustrating, but they might not receive a significant boost from Same Type Attack Bonus (STAB). Glalie is easily recognized in the Raid selection screen and isn’t much of an issue regardless of its ability. However, Moody can pose challenges due to its unpredictable yet potent stat increases.
10. Cetitan
Ability Gamble
In the game “Scarlet and Violet,” the character known as Cetitan boasts several unique skills that can give you an idea of how tough a fight might be. If Cetitan possesses Thick Fat and its Tera form is weak against Fire or Ice-type attacks, expect the battle to potentially last longer than usual due to reduced damage.
With Slush Rush active, Cetitan may inflict damage at a faster pace compared to usual. In the optimal situation, Cetitan equipped with Sheer Force becomes a formidable force, significantly increasing its damage potential.
9. Dondozo
The Fish Boss
Similar to Cetitan, Dondozo’s skill significantly determines the efficiency of players during a Raid. Due to Unaware, Dondozo is oblivious to any stat changes made by opposing Pokemon, making moves that enhance attacks appear as if they haven’t been altered, and defensive boosts are rendered ineffective.
While some Pokemon, such as Annihilape, aren’t greatly affected due to the way Rage Fist functions, most other Pokemon may find themselves struggling against the countdown of a Raid battle if they encounter an Unaware Dondozo.
8. Lapras
Ice-Type Icon
Among the cherished Generation 1 Pokemon, and arguably one of the most adored overall, Lapras is often a wise selection when participating in Raids. While not typically renowned for its attacking prowess, Lapras doesn’t pose a significant direct threat.
In simpler terms, Lapras, being a defensive tank, isn’t expected to cause many problems. However, if Lapras has the Water Absorb ability, it will be completely resistant to Water-type attacks. This is important to note because most types that are weak against Water also have other weaknesses. So while this won’t disrupt most strategies significantly, it’s something players should consider when planning their moves.
7. Basculegion
Ancient Menace
In the game “Legends: Arceus,” one of the most intriguing fish-type Pokemon is Basculegion. This particular Pokemon has an unprecedented evolution method, and it becomes Basculegion when a Basculin with a white stripe undergoes at least 294 points of self-inflicted damage without fainting. Catching Basculegion in Raids is also more practical because it offers a convenient way to capture this ancient creature.
Basculegion could prove to be a challenging opponent, boasting formidable skills such as Adaptability, which boosts the power of its STAB moves, and Mold Breaker, a feature that bypasses an enemy Pokemon’s special abilities. Additionally, its impressive attack stat should not be underestimated.
6. Snorlax
Generation One Classic
Without a doubt, Snorlax is among the most beloved and widely recognized Normal-type Pokémon, not just in popularity but also in terms of its enduring fame. This bulky creature is an excellent pick for trainers seeking to harvest any variant of Herba Mystica.
While Snorlax is generally recognized for its high HP, it can pose issues with moves like Heavy Slam and Body Slam. Heavy Slam uses Snorlax’s weight to determine its power, making lighter or smaller Pokemon vulnerable to being squashed. Conversely, Body Slam has a probability of inducing Paralysis, which can be inconvenient in the swift-moving atmosphere of a Raid battle.
5. Mandibuzz
Defensive Tank
In the Tera Raid menu, don’t overlook the defensive Pokemon, Mandibuzz. This Pokemon is quite popular in competitive play, particularly as a supportive character in the VGC scene. While Mandibuzz might not boast an overwhelming display of raw power, it possesses all the necessary moves to extend a Raid battle.
Armed with Taunt, Toxic, Dark Pulse, and Foul Play (a move that heavily punishes Pokemon with high attack stats), players should anticipate longer, more challenging battles when using Mandibuzz in exchange for valuable Herba. Though its stats aren’t particularly intimidating, Mandibuzz has enough strength to fend off most attacks thrown at it.
4. Kingdra
An Underrated Dragon
Kingdra, a Dragon-type that is frequently overshadowed by pseudo-legendaries, presents players with various types of Herba Mystica, but beware its formidable abilities as well.
Overshadowed by pseudo-legendaries, the often forgotten Dragon-type Kingdra offers players different kinds of Herba Mystica, but don’t underestimate its powerful skills.
As Kingdra possesses Rain Dance, its Swift Swim ability ensures continuous attacks due to a significant speed increase. Additionally, Sniper is an attribute that may pose issues for moves like Hydro Pump and Dragon Pulse by frequently causing critical hits. These moves can inflict severe damage on Pokemon with weak special defenses, especially if they are both Self-Tailored Attack (STAB) and super-effective.
3. Dusknoir
Grim Reaper
Dusknoir, a moderately challenging Ghost-type Pokemon, is an accessible choice for players to battle against. Despite not being as intimidating as Gengar, Dusknoir can still deal significant damage to opponents weak against its punching moves. When boosted by the appropriate Tera type in a Raid, Dusknoir becomes even more formidable.
This Ghost poses a challenge for defenseless Pokemon with moves like Shadow Punch, Brick Break, and Fire Punch. However, it’s not just Dusknoir’s attacks that are formidable – its robust defenses are what truly make it a force to be reckoned with.
2. Malamar
Master Contrarian
As a devoted Pokémon enthusiast, I’ve encountered an intriguing creature known as Malamar. This Pokémon is quite unique because it evolves when you flip your game console upside-down! In combat, Malamar can be a stealthy threat, boasting a signature move and a potent ability that keep opponents on their toes.
If Malamar possesses the ability Contrary, all effects it encounters are flipped, causing moves like Superpower to progressively boost its attack power. Regardless if Malamar lacks Contrary, the move Topsy-Turvy still performs a similar function, ensuring that Superpower could potentially become deadly in an instant. Despite not having exceptional stats, Malamar still has enough strength that it can present a significant challenge for any Pokemon during Raids when utilizing its STAB moves under ideal Tera conditions.
1. Blissey
The Best Option
When selecting Tera Raids, Blissey largely remains inactive throughout the fight with other players. Although it can utilize the move Sing, its minimal attack statistics are not a cause for worry at all.
As long as players choose the right Pokemon that counters Blissey’s Tera type, this Raid battle should be effortless. Furthermore, although it doesn’t always occur, Blissey is frequently paired with a 7 Star Raid Pokemon. This setup offers an excellent opportunity to accumulate XP Candy even at the 5 Star level, making these advantageous and valuable Blisseys all the more appealing.
