In just a few weeks, we’ll be witnessing the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase on June 8th. This digital event promises to unveil the imminent future of the Xbox platform, and I can hardly wait to catch a glimpse of the upcoming expansion for Starfield. It’s been quite some time since Shattered Space was launched, and those who continue to play Starfield are craving more content.
Initially, Bethesda Game Studios had committed to delivering a significant expansion pack annually. Interestingly, we became aware of Shattered Space prior to its launch. Given that it’s been quite some time since we’ve received any updates, the Xbox Games Showcase presents an ideal opportunity for such a reveal.
What’s Next for Starfield?
Shattered Space was released in September 2024, which already seems like a world away.
We’d been aware of Shattered Space for quite some time before its launch, but it wasn’t until last year’s Xbox Games Showcase in June that a release date was announced. Given this timing, I’m puzzled as to why Bethesda Game Studios hasn’t shared any updates yet about the next major expansion.
Originally intended as an unending saga spanning multiple years, akin to games such as Fallout 4 and Skyrim, Starfield unfortunately hasn’t lived up to these expectations. As per recent statistics on Steam, there are only a handful of players left for the game, and it seems that content creation around Starfield has also dwindled significantly on streaming and sharing platforms.
It appears that Shattered Space didn’t turn out to be the game Bethesda anticipated, so there might be a major unveiling this year to make up for it.
If the Xbox Games Showcase passes without the unveiling of Starfield from Bethesda Game Studios, I believe there may be no chance for this game, which has essentially been in development for two decades, to regain its reputation. From my perspective, the rollout of Starfield has been lackluster, and it seems to have been struggling ever since.
