Summary

  • Developer Toys for Bob expressed interest in working on a new Banjo-Kazooie game.
  • No new Banjo-Kazooie game has been announced.
  • Toys for Bob is rumored to be working on a new Spyro game.

A chat with the leader of developer Toys for Bob has disclosed their desire to create a fresh Banjo-Kazooie game. Notably, Toys for Bob is recognized for their work on hit series like Skylanders, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro. However, this studio has not previously been involved in the development of a Banjo-Kazooie title.

For more than three decades, Toys for Bob has created a number of highly acclaimed games, including four installments in the Skylanders series, the Spyro Reignited Trilogy, and Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. Recently, Toys for Bob parted ways with Activision to operate as an independent studio, leaving fans eager to learn about their current projects.

In a recent conversation with Canadian Guy Eh, the head of Toys for Bob, Paul Yan, expressed their preferred IP to work on if granted the opportunity. According to Yan, since the studio has regained independence, there are numerous options, but working on the “Banjo-Kazooie” franchise is a choice they would be thrilled about. Furthermore, Yan emphasized the lengthy gap since gamers last played a “Banjo-Kazooie” game, suggesting that it’s time for Banjo to wake up from his hibernation, as it has been long enough, don’t you think?

Toys for Bob Wants to Work on a New Banjo-Kazooie Game

I think we all can agree Banjo’s been hibernating long enough, right?

In 2008, the latest installment of Banjo-Kazooie was released, titled Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts. Since then, characters like Banjo have made appearances in the Super Smash Bros. series, but the franchise as a whole has remained relatively quiet. The prospect of Toys for Bob developing a new entry after such a long hiatus would surely be thrilling for fans.

It appears that fans of Banjo-Kazooie will have to wait longer for a new game as neither Xbox Insider Jez Corden nor Xbox boss Phil Spencer have confirmed any plans for a new installment recently. Moreover, Rare, the company responsible for creating Banjo-Kazooie, has not shown any signs of working on or expressing interest in developing the title as suggested by their latest interviews.

Currently, Toys for Bob is secretly developing a game for Xbox Game Studios. There’s speculation that it could be a new installment in the Spyro series, possibly titled “Mystery of the Dragon”, but this remains unconfirmed as the developers have yet to announce their next project.
