Switch 2 Scalpers DESTROYED by Nintendo Fans!

Summary

  • Fans are mass reporting Switch 2 eBay listings.
  • Many of the Switch 2 eBay listings are being taken down.
  • With Switch 2 launch approaching, efforts against scalpers may become more challenging.

Some enthusiasts of the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 are battling eBay resellers aiming to sell console pre-orders at inflated prices, as listings vanish quickly due to numerous complaints being filed. Despite Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders in the US and Canada remaining unavailable at this moment, these scalpers have seized the opportunity to profit.

After a complete unveiling of the Switch 2 during the April 2nd Nintendo Direct broadcast, it was confirmed by Nintendo that the console would initially cost $449.99 for the basic model and $499.99 for the “Mario Kart World” bundle at launch. However, the initial plan to start pre-orders on April 9th had to be postponed to an unspecified date due to tariffs imposed by the Trump administration. Recently, the Trump administration reduced tariffs to 10% in most countries for a period of 90 days. Notably, the Switch 2’s launch window of June 5 falls within this 90-day period, which might indicate a possible change in plans regarding pre-orders or availability.

Despite uncertainties surrounding the Trump tariff situation regarding the Switch 2, some individuals have prematurely listed pre-orders on eBay ahead of its June 5 release, as reported by Nintendo Life. In response, users on the r/NintendoSwitch2 subreddit have been actively reporting these scalped Switch 2 listings to eBay, leading to their removal due to violating eBay’s terms of service. User FroggoOwO explained that selling an item before it can be shipped within 40 business days of its release or purchase date is not permitted on eBay. By April 9, several Switch 2 scalper listings had been taken down as they fell outside the 40-day launch window, which goes against eBay’s policies. However, some users have reported that eBay’s AI-based assistant has rejected their claims regarding these listings.

Nintendo Fans Fight Back Against Switch 2 Scalpers

With just over a month left until the release of the Switch 2 on June 5, it may become increasingly challenging to take down scalpers’ listings on eBay. Some experts speculated that due to economic factors such as tariffs imposed by the Trump administration, there could be a gradual rise in the price of the Switch 2 over time.

Currently, there’s no word from Nintendo about when Switch 2 pre-orders in the US and Canada will start, so fans have to stay patient and wait for further updates. With a scheduled Nintendo Direct focusing on “Mario Kart World” set for April 17, we can only speculate whether Nintendo might restart pre-orders before that date.
