Syndra: The Next Champion for a Visual Update in LoL Season 2?

As the first season of “League of Legends” concludes, it’s shifting from the powerful empire of Noxus to the enchanting land of Ionia. This transition was made clear in the latest “League of Legends” cinematic called “A Dark Gambit,” where LeBlanc mentions her quest to find a potent Darkin weapon in Ionia. Additionally, this move to Ionia has been hinted at through the presence of flower petals, a common element in Ionia, in previous Noxus cinematics featuring LeBlanc.

In each new game update for “League of Legends,” at least one champion is given a visual and graphics overhaul (VGU), often one who hails from the focus region. For instance, LeBlanc, being the leader of the Black Rose cabal that governs Noxus behind the scenes, was chosen for this update, as she played a pivotal role in both “Arcane” and the initial season of “League of Legends.” As for the upcoming Ionia season, it’s yet to be decided which champion will receive a VGU, but there are hints that Syndra might be next.

What Happened to Syndra in League of Legends Lore?

Syndra is a mid-lane champion in League of Legends, known for her fierce mage abilities and uncontrollable magical power. In her twenties, she was jailed in the Dreaming Pool in Fae’lor, Ionia’s westernmost region, after causing destruction on an island. Centuries later, she was released to help her fellow Ionians during the Noxian invasion. However, instead of aiding them, she used her dark magic indiscriminately against everyone, regardless of their allegiance.

Since 2018 when “League of Legends” unveiled Syndra’s tale, “The Dreaming Pool”, there has been no further insight into her fate post-slumber, as she tore apart Fae’lor’s fortress and soared off with it. However, the latest short story, “Everywhere, and Everyone,” hints that LeBlanc could be on a mission to locate Syndra and enlist her in Ionia.

Syndra’s Possible Role in League of Legends Season 2

In case you didn’t know, League of Legends Season 2 is set to arrive in the land of Ionia. This could serve as the foundation for the upcoming TV series, Arcane, which is said to be set in Ionia. Although well-known characters like Ahri and Yasuo from Ionia might appear in Season 2, League of Legends may also focus on lesser-known champions with rich lore, such as Syndra. The fact that LeBlanc has shown interest in the dark mage, as hinted in “Everywhere, and Everyone,” could suggest that she will have a significant role in the storyline of Season 2.

As a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but speculate about the potential future updates for one of my favorite champions, Syndra. Just like how LeBlanc received an updated design back in Season 1, it’s not impossible to imagine that Syndra could be next in line for a Visual and Gameplay Update (VGU), even though her last updates were just a few years ago in 2021 and 2022.

However, if Riot Games feels that giving Syndra a VGU this season might be premature, they could instead choose to delve deeper into her lore and explore how she could team up with LeBlanc. These two powerful mages could join forces to locate the Darkin weapon in Ionia, all while working together to prevent the ominous return of Mordekaiser in Noxus. The possibilities are endless, and as a fan, I can’t wait to see what Riot Games has in store for us!

It’d be intriguing to explore if Syndra might meet up with her League of Legends counterpart, Mel Medarda, in Ionia. Given their magical prowess, it’s not hard to imagine them engaging in a confrontation. After all, Mel successfully repelled LeBlanc in Arcane and could be seeking to stop the Black Rose from advancing in Noxus according to current lore.

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but get excited about the diverse cast of champions in League of Legends for Season 2’s Visual Update Group (VGU). The captivating tales and intriguing characters of Ionia make it an ideal source for the game to draw from, enriching its universe even more, whether it’s Syndra or another champion from this region. This expansion could extend beyond the game, potentially influencing the continuation of its popular TV show as well.
