However, ironically, these same fanbases often work so hard to suppress any differences other than their own, which seems paradoxical to me.

I believe that the majority of fandom stems from a place of greatness, a ‘golden place.’ For myself, this golden place is rooted in feelings of not always being understood, stemming from growing up and navigating the world. These stories and media provide an escape, allowing me to express emotions and contemplate the world around me. It’s almost like our modern-day interpretation of Greek mythology.
