This post contains spoilers for Solo Leveling.
Summary
- Sung Jinwoo was chosen by the System to be the Player in Solo Leveling.
- The Architect, also known as Kandiaru, created the System to find a vessel for Ashborn.
- The Architect tried to take over Jinwoo, failed, and was ultimately defeated by the hero.
Fans of Solo Leveling will long remember the pivotal moment when Sung Jinwoo ventured into the treacherous double dungeon, narrowly escaping death. Many who joined him in this perilous journey met their end, and it was only Sung Jinwoo’s selection as a vessel that spared him from a similar fate.
Initially chosen by the mechanism for the role of the Player, Sung Jinwoo remained unsure about the events that unfolded for a few days following the incident. However, as time passed, he began to realize that circumstances had shifted. Despite continuously advancing in levels, Sung Jinwoo failed to uncover any clues that could explain his situation. This status quo persisted until he reached level 100 and was granted access to the Cartenon Temple via a key provided by the System. It was there that he met the Architect of the System, a revelation that potentially held answers to his questions.
Who Is The Architect In Solo Leveling?

The character known as ‘The Architect’ is actually called Kandiaru, and he secretly ran the Double Dungeon. He designed and oversaw the functioning of the System to hasten the search for Ashborn’s suitable vessel. The Architect held his work in high esteem, viewing the System as a masterpiece.
The Designer provided a key to Sung Jinwoo, enabling Ashborn to assume control over the Hunter’s body. Upon arriving at the dungeon, the Architect swiftly deployed his puppets to gauge the hero’s power. If Sung Jinwoo hadn’t boosted his attributes, the statues would have destroyed him instantly. After the statues were neutralized, the Architect stepped into the battlefield. To add suspense, he set a 10-minute clock. If Sung Jinwoo couldn’t defeat the Architect within that timeframe, the System would terminate the hero automatically.
Sung Jinwoo Was Pushed To His Limit
In comparison to typical puppets, the Architect displayed exceptional strength and agility. His physical prowess was unmistakable as even Sung Jinwoo found it challenging to counter him. Moreover, the Architect possessed a wide range of fighting techniques, initially keeping pace with Jinwoo in hand-to-hand combat, leaving the latter astonished.
It meant something. But now it doesn’t matter. —Sung Jinwoo
The Architect not only possessed the Ruler’s power, but even with his exceptional abilities, he failed to subdue Sung Jinwoo, who instead managed to give him a harsh beating. Later on, the Architect chose to put Sung Jinwoo into a trance, anticipating the arrival of the Shadow Monarch. However, Kandiaru was taken aback when events unfolded differently. Not only did Sung Jinwoo break free from the trance, but he also seized Ashborn’s dark heart instead.
After the recent event unfolded, I found myself understanding that the Shadow Monarch had chosen to disregard me. Overwhelmed by the prospect of my own demise, I made a desperate move to subvert the system and seize all powers associated with Jinwoo. Fortunately, Ashborn had barred me from accessing the system, thus foiling my schemes. Left with no alternative, I could only vent my fury in a deafening roar before Jinwoo reduced me to fragments.
Will The Architect Appear Again In The Third Season Of Solo Leveling?

- The Architect will likely feature in season 3 again
- Solo Leveling has not announced a third season
In the first season of Solo Leveling, we were introduced to The Architect as a significant supporting character. There’s a strong possibility that he may make another appearance in the anime when Season 3 comes out, though the timing and speed of its release could vary. Unfortunately, fans might need to exercise patience and wait a few years before catching a glimpse of Season 3.
Following the conclusion of the second season, it emerged that the director of Solo Leveling was occupied with various tasks, leading to a delay in the anime’s production. Currently, fans are asked to stay patient as we anticipate some news at the upcoming Jump Festa. It is reasonable to expect that if there is an update, it will be shared during this event. If the announcement comes at the end of 2025, it’s likely that Solo Leveling Season 3 will premiere sometime in late 2026 or early 2027. A-1 Pictures aims to ensure quality, so production may take some time.
