The First Descendant’s Major Update Unlocks Ultimate Blair and New Challenges

Summary

  • Update 1.2.14 introduces Ultimate Descendant Blair, a new event, and the Void Erosion Purge challenge.
  • Ultimate Blair offers exclusive quests, skill modules, and increased player activity on Steam post-update.
  • Support for PS4 and Xbox One versions to end in June 2025 to focus on newer console gameplay.

In the latest iteration of The First Descendant, update 1.2.14, has been launched across all devices, featuring the introduction of a new top-tier character, Ultimate Blair. Players will also notice some modifications in this fresh version of The First Descendant, such as a novel event called Blair’s Protection of Ingris and an optional challenge for players to ramp up the difficulty during the Void Erosion Purge.

Since its launch in July 2024, the initial excitement for the online RPG looter shooter, “The First Descendant,” seems to have faded substantially. Despite breaking early records with a whopping 10 million players within its first week and daily player counts on PC surpassing 150,000, recent Steam Charts data reveals that the game has failed to exceed 10,000 peak players in the last seven days.

With the arrival of Update 1.2.14, there has been a significant surge – approximately 67% more – in the number of players simultaneously logged in via Steam on its launch day. This spike in activity can largely be attributed to players aiming to unlock the new character, Ultimate Descendant. The blueprints for this new Ultimate can be obtained using Amorphous Materials, and required research materials can be gathered from Sigma Sector. Once Ultimate Blair is unlocked, players receive a unique quest tailored to their character, which upon completion rewards them with a chest attachment. Additionally, Ultimate Blair comes equipped with skill modules that can scorch enemies and boost his critical hit rate, critical hit damage, and skill power against affected adversaries.

In the latest update, Ultimate Blair serves as the main attraction, but it’s not the only change. Players can now progress to the five-stage Void Erosion Purge Challenge on Hard difficulty once they complete it on Normal at Stage 30. Moreover, a leaderboard has been incorporated for those tackling it on Hard mode. Additionally, a special event focusing on Blair is introduced, offering daily and weekly challenges for extra rewards. Simultaneously, there are enhancements to The First Descendant‘s weaponry and modules, such as a function that causes unique abilities or core unlocks on an individual weapon to affect all identical weapons.

For the popular game “The First Descendant“, this is likely one of the last updates you’ll see on certain platforms. Despite its recent release less than three quarters of a year ago, Nexon announced in early March that they will be ending support for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions by June 19, 2025. This decision is to enable the developers to concentrate on delivering improved gameplay experiences on current-generation consoles. Although some players might be disappointed with this news, they can transfer their saved progress to newer platforms using the game’s cross-save feature.
