Argonaut Games has just rolled out a fresh update for their revamped version of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos. This latest version addresses several bugs and enhances in-game experiences. The update for Croc: Legend of the Gobbos is now live on PC, with plans to bring it to PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch platforms shortly.
Despite not having a Platinum trophy upon its release on PS4 and PS5, the remastered version of “Croc: Legend of the Gobbos” introduced numerous enhancements for players to enjoy. These additions encompass an innovative control screen, high-definition graphics, and Crocipedia – a comprehensive digital museum showcasing historical development materials like game design documents, concept art, animation trials, and interviews with team members. Following its release on April 2, the creators of “Croc: Legend of the Gobbos” collected feedback from players to prepare for the game’s first update.
The latest update for “Croc: Legend of the Gobbos” version 1.0.4 is out now on GOG, and Argonaut Games have released a list of changes in the remastered game on April 17. The update resolves issues such as collision problems with spiky balls, strange character positions and jerky movements, and missing particle effects. This should result in a smoother gaming experience for players. Furthermore, puzzle pieces on the island level selection screen now accurately reflect which ones have been collected by players, and the music track selection now aligns with the original 1997 PlayStation release. Lastly, incorrect track lengths displayed on the Crocipedia screen for certain tracks have been corrected.
Additionally, the update 1.0.4 resolved an issue with save data rendering in the remastered version of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos. Earlier versions had a problem where freshly saved games would trigger a custom rendering setting that might impact PC performance for certain players. The PC edition also experienced occasional crashes during loading or playing FMVs, but this bug has been addressed in this update.
To enhance the gaming experience for console players, certain platform-specific problems were addressed. The Nintendo Switch version, in particular, garnered significant criticism due to its controls not being well-suited for the console’s button layout. Consequently, Argonaut Games adjusted the positions of the Jump, 180-degree Flip, and Attack buttons to align with the original game design across all platforms. Additionally, trophy and achievement adjustments were made to the PlayStation and Xbox versions of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos. The developers are currently looking into the frame rate problems that persist in the ASUS ROG Ally handheld version of the game.
