Now, Nintendo has finally announced when we can pre-order the Switch 2, but it looks like Amazon isn’t part of the plan, which is a bit surprising given their usual involvement in major console launches.

On the 18th of April, Nintendo unveiled that pre-orders for the U.S. Switch 2 would become available on the 24th of the same month, as previously announced, priced at $449.99. Shortly thereafter, listings for this console began popping up on popular retailers such as Walmart, Best Buy, and GameStop. However, it’s important to note that one major outlet is not offering pre-orders yet.

Currently, Amazon doesn’t have any Switch 2 pre-orders available for purchase. Not only are there no pre-orders for the console itself, but also its accessories and exclusive games aren’t listed either. Even on Nintendo’s Amazon store page, you won’t find a category dedicated to the console. This isn’t an unusual situation for Nintendo and Amazon, as earlier this year, some Metroid Prime 4 pre-orders were canceled by Amazon. However, that incident was believed to be due to the original orders being for an outdated version of the game and Nintendo limiting their physical pre-order inventories. The absence of any Switch 2-related listings might suggest a more significant problem.

In the past, other Nintendo products have faced stock issues on Amazon, leading some to speculate that there may be a widening divide between the two companies beyond just inventory problems.
