The official plans for Escape from Tarkov, as detailed in its latest content roadmap, reveal the game’s upcoming updates scheduled for the rest of 2025. The final point on this newly disclosed schedule is the 1.0 release, which does not have a specific launch date yet. Escape from Tarkov Preliminary 2025 Content Roadmap
Currently, Battlestate Games is working on four more updates for the game “Escape from Tarkov,” starting with the 0.16.6.0 update, expected to release in May 2025. This update will bring visual enhancements, optimizations to the Lighthouse map, adjustments to AI behavior, and balance changes. Additionally, audio improvements for the Shoreline map are planned, as well as fixes for any missing third-person sound effects from armor and helmet impacts. A new in-game event is also set to debut with this update.
In June 2025, Escape from Tarkov is set to roll out its next update, tagged as version 0.16.70. This update will bring bug fixes, tweaks in AI behavior, a summer weather season, and enhancements to the audio engine. Moreover, the Reserve map within Escape from Tarkov is slated to receive custom optimizations as part of this update, which will also ameliorate the obstacle processing algorithm for superior audio occlusion performance. Audio occlusion is a technique that adjusts sounds coming from behind walls or other obstacles to make them sound more authentic.
In simpler terms, Battlestate Games has outlined their upcoming plans, which include a July 2025 update (version 0.16.8.0) for Escape from Tarkov. This update will bring improvements to the Shoreline and Ground Zero maps, an overhaul of third-person gunshot sounds, multiple bug fixes, and another in-game event. The penultimate pre-launch update is scheduled for August 2025 (version 0.16.9.0), offering enhancements to the Interchange map, more bug fixes, and a significant in-game event. The game’s version 1.0 is expected to release sometime between these two updates, ending 2025.
