At times, a protagonist may find themselves experiencing a solitary existence due to their relentless pursuit of their main objective – often achieving some grand feat or resolution. This is certainly the case for characters like Naoe and Yasuke in “Assassin’s Creed: Shadows“.
Indeed, they need to traverse quite a distance through the era of feudal Japan. Fortunately, there are guides and allies who can assist them on their journey, yet this does not necessarily alleviate the solitude they often experience.
Here is a helpful tip for ensuring these two receive the affection they crave, all while staying true to your purpose.
How Romance Works
Although the selection of romantic interests might seem somewhat restricted, there are still four possibilities for each character, providing you with numerous choices to explore. Occasionally, you’ll encounter a potential companion during the main storyline, and at other times, you’ll stumble upon them while completing various side quests scattered across Japan.
As a gamer, when chatting up a character who seems keen on developing a romantic relationship with my protagonist, I’ll spot a heart symbol alongside some dialogue options. In such instances, choosing these heart-marked responses is the way to go if I want to flirt and potentially deepen the connection with that character.
Furthermore, there might be characters who need your assistance, either by finishing tasks or progressing through specific plot points within the main story. If these conditions are met and you’ve shown appropriate affection, you may even have the opportunity to form a romantic relationship with those characters.
If you are playing in Canon Mode, you will be unable to romance anyone.
All Romance Options
In the game, each character has four distinct romantic options available to them. Here’s an overview of each one.

How To Romance Gennojo
In my gaming world, I’ll first cross paths with Gennojo during the mission titled “The Lost Letter.” After that encounter, I’ll find myself developing a playful rapport with him across our subsequent adventures together.

Once you finish flirting in “Stolen Hearts,” you will get a romance scene with him.
How To Romance Katsuhime
Initially, Naoe encounters Katsuhime in the mission titled “Sakamoto Showdown”. It’s worth noting that these missions present opportunities for flirting with her.

After flirting with her in “The Jounin Pillow Book,” you can romance her.
How To Romance Koshiro
During the mission titled “Brothers in Arms,” you may encounter Koshiro. Following this, there’s an opportunity for Naoe to console him and engage in a playful banter during the subsequent task.

Following the choice of all romantic paths in this particular scene, Naoe tenderly consoles an injured Koshiro. This leads to a deepening of their relationship and the blossoming of a romance between them.
How To Romance Mayu
In comparison to others, Mayu’s romantic involvement with Naoe is brief. She becomes accessible during her own personal mission, titled “Mayu’s Offering.” If you opt for the flirtatious dialogue choices throughout her quest, you will have the opportunity to pursue a romance with her at its conclusion.
How To Romance Hori Hidemasa
Hori Hidemasa is another really short romance option.
In the adventure titled “The Betrayers,” sharing with Hori that your reward for this quest was meeting him, triggers a short romantic sequence.
How To Romance Lady Oichi
Lady Oichi’s relationship with Yakuse doesn’t fit the conventional definition of romance, largely because of their significant social disparities. One can encounter her during the mission titled “An Education.

How To Romance Ibuki
In the quest titled “Ambush Interrupted,” you’ll have a chance to encounter Ibuki. You can try flirting with him in these specific quests instead:

– During the mission called “Ambush Interrupted,” you’ll find Ibuki. In these additional missions, flirting with him might occur:

After completing these quests, you can have a romance scene with him.
How To Romance Rin
In the game “Arrow Strike,” you’ll encounter a character named Rin, who represents Yasuke’s final romantic option. To win her affection, engage in flirtatious banter during these specific missions:

Once completed, you will be able to romance her.
