- Margera’s history of controversies may be linked to his apparent exclusion from the game, but he remains hopeful.
It seems that Bam Margera might not show up in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4 as initially speculated, following recent comments from the ex-star of Jackass and Viva La Bam. The ongoing debate about Margera potentially joining the game’s lineup for its July release has kept fans on their toes, but it appears that Margera himself is yet to receive confirmation from Activision.
A significant number of enthusiasts of the skateboarding game series were disappointed in early March, as rumors about the roster hinted at Bam Margera’s exclusion from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, despite his notable contributions to the original games. In fact, Margera’s involvement with the Tony Hawk games extended far beyond those two titles, as he was both a playable character and a quest provider.
In an interview with TMZ, Margera stated that he hasn’t yet received confirmation about his involvement in the upcoming game, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, scheduled for release on all major platforms on July 11, 2025. The ex-MTV star seems to support the rumors from March suggesting that Hawk wants Margera included in the game, which started on a popular skateboarding podcast and included claims that the game’s namesake insisted on Margera being scanned for his body, despite development being mostly finished. However, the body scanning hasn’t taken place yet. Yet, Margera isn’t taking this as definitive evidence that he won’t reappear as a playable character again. He told TMZ, “The deadline has passed, but the good news is I’ve been in four previous games. So, if they decide to use me, it might just be a simple click of a button.
Bam Margera Still Doesn’t Know If He’s In THPS3+4
It’s unclear why Margera wasn’t part of the upcoming game at first, possibly because of his past issues. Margera has struggled with substance abuse in the past, but he’s been receiving professional help since 2009. He’s also faced legal troubles, such as accusations of threats and violence towards family members and household staff. Moreover, he was let go from the “Jackass Forever” film in 2021 due to allegations of online harassment against his co-star Johnny Knoxville and the series co-creator Jeff Tremaine.
It appears that Margera is enthusiastic about the possibility of reappearing in the upcoming game and expressed optimism that Hawk might pull off a miracle to make it happen. Yet, he also seemed upbeat while acknowledging the challenges of creating a video game and commending the team at Activision, suggesting he appreciates the constraints that developers work under. In his words, “Who knows what can transpire when there’s a deadline.” Margera’s addition to the game, along with some other modifications like removing the traditional Career Mode, are part of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4.
