As a die-hard Star Wars fan, I’m thrilled to share that Disneyland has disclosed more details about the upcoming Millennion Falcon: Smuggler’s Run collaboration with The Mandalorian! This exciting news was unveiled at the Star Wars Celebration Japan held in Tokyo from April 18-20, 2025. Interestingly enough, some of these intriguing details were also revealed a month prior at SXSW 2025.
Just as anticipated, the Star Wars Celebration event brought forth numerous exciting announcements such as new Star Wars movies, anime, and other projects, in addition to providing updates on Star Wars attractions at Disneyland Park. Notably, the long-awaited update about Mando and Grogu is now underway.
Disneyland has revealed that an upgrade for the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction is scheduled for May 22, 2026, coinciding with the release date of the upcoming film featuring The Mandalorian and Grogu. In this revamped version of Galaxy’s Edge, riders will join forces with Mando and Grogu to pursue rogue Imperial officers and pirates in a fresh adventure, which is being developed using Unreal Engine 5 technology.
Smugglers Run And The Mandalorian
Disneyland unveiled that the position of Engineer now allows team members to decide their crew’s mission location, offering choices between thrilling journeys to Bespin, Endor (the second Death Star), or Coruscant. Furthermore, Engineers will have an unprecedented level of interaction with Grogu during these missions, significantly enhancing the role’s engagement and appeal.
Furthermore, it’s been verified that BDX Droids currently at Tokyo Disney Resort will be visiting Disney World Resort and Disneyland Paris in the near future.
As an ardent fan of both Star Wars and Disneyland, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the collaboration between Mando & Grogu and Smugglers Run. And it seems Disney is finally dishing out more tangible updates about it! Despite any criticisms or preferences fans might hold regarding the attraction or decisions made, this partnership could serve as a refreshing boost for those who’ve had reservations about Millenium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run.
Galaxy’s Edge is gradually blending contemporary Star Wars narratives with new characters like Ahsoka, Luke Skywalker, The Mandalorian, and Grogu, broadening the area even more. With the hype surrounding The Mandalorian and the upcoming 2026 film, it’s likely that Smuggler’s Run will garner increased interest next year.
