  • Days Gone Remastered offers countless new accessibility features on PS5.
  • The game will bring tons of new customizable options to make the title more welcoming to players.
  • More graphical enhancements are coming to the PS5 Pro version of the game.

Bend Studios has shared details about the numerous accessibility features that will be included in the upgraded version of Days Gone Remastered, set to launch on PlayStation 5 on April 25th. Drawing inspiration from the initial release in 2019, the remastered edition of Days Gone will showcase numerous graphical enhancements, fresh game modes, and a multitude of customizable options to make the game more inclusive for players.

2024 saw a leak revealing the upcoming remastered version of Days Gone, and in February 2025, it was officially confirmed by developer Bend Studios. They promised additional improvements tailored to PS5 Pro users. The original game hit PlayStation 4 shelves in April 2019, but at launch, it received mixed reviews due to its bug-ridden action-adventure gameplay and questionable mission design. Attempts to pitch a sequel failed, but fans can now look forward to revisiting post-apocalyptic Oregon with the release of Days Gone Remastered, boasting numerous enhancements for all types of gamers.

Kevin McAllister, Creative & Product Lead at Bend Studio, provides more details in a recent blog post about the various accessibility features coming to the remastered version of Days Gone. For visuals, players can choose from 11 different subtitle colors and adjust a High Contrast Mode for better visibility throughout the game. The audio has been significantly upgraded, with UI Narration and Collectible Audio Cues being added in the remastered version to aid in finding hidden collectibles and enhance navigation. These cues will also be played through the DualSense controller’s speaker. Players can customize controls entirely, and gameplay speed can be adjusted according to preference. Some of these accessibility improvements will carry over to the original Days Gone on PC as well.

Days Gone Remastered Will Be More Accessible and Customizable

In early March, McAllister discussed the appearance of Days Gone Remastered on the PS5, highlighting that the enhancements are “apparent.” Enhanced shadow quality, brighter lighting, deeper fog effects, and more massive zombie hordes will create a completely new gaming experience, including the introduction of new gameplay modes. Particularly, the Horde Assault mode will include as many as 800 enemies in a single group.

PC gamers need not worry about missing out, as the “Days Gone Broken Road” expansion is set to release on Steam on April 25th. This content will offer a PC-based counterpart to the PS5 remaster, complete with DualSense controller compatibility, an upgraded photo mode, and the addition of both Permadeath and Horde Assault gameplay modes.
