The latest update for Pokemon Home, version 3.3.0, has been rolled out after server maintenance. This new version exclusively offers a medal trading feature on mobile devices. Once updated, trainers using compatible iOS and Android devices can now gather and swap medals showcasing Starter Pokemon groups from each main series region such as Kanto, Sinnoh, and Paldea.

In a span of two months following the app’s update that allowed trainers to acquire Shiny Mythical Pokemon upon completing regional Pokedexes, an update for Pokemon Home version 3.3.0 was released. This update granted users a Shiny Meltan after they completed the Kanto Pokedex in Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee. By finishing the Galar Pokedex from Pokemon Sword and Shield, along with its expansions, The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra, players can secure a Shiny Keldeo. Notably, Keldeo is typically Shiny-locked, making Pokemon Home the sole legitimate method to acquire a Shiny version of this Colt Pokemon.

While Pokemon Home is famous for enabling the trading of creatures between games such as Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and Pokemon Legends: Arceus, a recent update introduces something new for enthusiasts to trade – medals! These medals are exclusive to the mobile version of the app and showcase the Starter Pokemon trios from each mainline Pokemon game so far. At present, there are nine unique medals up for grabs by players who want to collect them all. Additionally, the 3.3.0 update for Pokemon Home resolved some lingering issues.

Pokemon Home Launches New Medal Collecting Feature

Following the update to the Pokemon Home app to version 3.3.0 and logging in, players are rewarded with three different Starter Pokemon medals. The specific medal a player receives is random. For instance, the Sinnoh medal includes Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup, whereas the Johto medal showcases Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile on one side. Non-subscribers of Pokemon Home can store a limited number of medals, but subscribers have more available slots for their collection.

In contrast to games such as Pokemon GO that award medals for completing specific tasks and collecting items, the medals in Pokemon Home will be distributed during certain Pokemon events or at Pokemon Center stores. These medals can either be swapped with friends or redeemed using codes that can be scanned or entered. To stay updated on which events offer Pokemon Home medals, players simply need to navigate to the Medals tab from the main menu and then select Related Events.

Between the “Pokemon GO” Fest scheduled for June and the 2025 “Pokemon” World Championships set for August, trainers have two possible options to either acquire or swap “Pokemon Home” medals. Whether the medal feature will be widely used remains to be seen.
