How to Unlock Potion & Poison Crafting in Oblivion Remastered

In the revamped version of “The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion”, crafting continues to play a significant role in enhancing your overall gameplay. Among various types of crafting, we’ll delve into the creation of potions and poisons, which utilize the same system throughout the game. Characters of all kinds can derive advantages from even the most fundamental Alchemy system, making it essential for every player to understand the process of making potions and poisons in Oblivion Remastered.

How to Unlock Potion & Poison Crafting in Oblivion Remastered

Locate Alchemy Crafting Tools:

In Oblivion Remastered, you don’t start off with the ability to make potions and poisons. Instead, you need to earn the skill by finding the necessary tools. Fortunately, the basics – the Novice Mortar & Pestle – are easily found in the early stages of the game. Once you have these tools, you can begin crafting alchemy at a Novice level.

With a beginner Mortar & Pestle in hand, you can start creating potions and poisons at their simplest forms. For advanced results in your crafting endeavors, consider acquiring the complete set of Alchemy toolkit, which encompasses:

  • Mortar & Pestle
  • Calcinator
  • Retort
  • Alembic

After completing the tutorial, you’ll have the entire map of Cyrodiil unlocked. At that point, you can head straight to one specific spot to gather all the items together, including the Mortar & Pestle, right from the start.

To gather all the items, make your way to the town of Chorrol, situated west of the Imperial City. Once there, seek out the Mage’s Guild, located on the northern side, slightly to the left of the Fighter’s Guild structure in Chorrol.

Upon locating the building, make your way inside and connect with Teekeeus to become a member of the Mage’s Guild. It is best to do this at the start of the game for seamless guild membership. Once you’re a member, proceed to the room to the left of Teekeeus.

As a devoted enthusiast, I want to share my discovery: Inside this establishment, you’ll come across a vendor named Angalmo, who offers an array of alchemy goods. Fortunately, you won’t need to spend a dime on these items. Instead, venture into the cozy little side room adjacent to his counter. That’s where you’ll find a treasure trove of alchemy items, stocked with everything a Novice like myself could possibly require. If by chance something is missing from this haul, don’t hesitate to reach behind Angalmo and grab it from the wall behind him!

If you belong to the guild, there shouldn’t be any problems regarding this being perceived as theft.

How to Craft Potions & Poisons in Oblivion Remastered

Open the Inventory:

After gathering all necessary Alchemy tools, navigate to your Inventory, locate the Alchemy section, and then search for the Novice Mortar & Pestle. Click on it to open the Alchemy crafting menu for Potions and Poisons. On the left side of the menu, you’ll see a list of your ingredients, while the right side displays the crafting options.

To create either a healing concoction or a harmful substance, you will need a minimum of two items that produce identical outcomes. In simpler terms, if an item has a restorative property, it is considered a potion, while those with damaging properties are classified as poisons. When you select an ingredient from the list, the effects associated with it will be displayed at the bottom left corner of the screen.

The results of your crafting will be placed back into your Alchemy inventory.
