A Next-Gen Blade Runner Game From Supermassive Games Gets Heartbreaking Update

It seems that Supermassive Games, creators of Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology series, were previously working on a next-generation Blade Runner game. However, recent reports indicate that this project has been discontinued or halted.

According to information obtained by Insider Gaming, the working title for this game was “Blade Runner: Time to Live,” which is set in the year 2065 and offers around 10 to 12 hours of solo gaming.

The upcoming third-person video game, titled “Time to Live: The Next-Gen Blade Runner“, was intended to deliver an immersive experience by combining a thought-provoking narrative that mirrors the philosophical elements of Blade Runner with fast-paced action-adventure gameplay.

The core elements of the gameplay were designed to encompass four key areas: fighting, hiding, discovering new places, solving mysteries, and developing deep, engaging character relationships, allowing for skill and power enhancements along the way.

According to the report, we initiated the pre-production phase in September 2024, planning for it to wrap up in March 2025. By September 2025, we anticipate having completed and finalized our prototypes.

There Is A Time To Live, And A Time To Die!

The intriguing detail lies in the fact that this game was intended to be a cutting-edge title, with its planned release slated for September 2027 across PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, as well as PlayStation 6 and future generations of Xbox consoles.

Approximately $45 million was initially allocated for the creation of ‘Blade Runner: Time to Live’, a figure that could adjust throughout the progression of the production phase.

It appears that this Gen 10 video game, titled “Blade Runner: Time to Live,” was one of the earliest to be scrapped. The cancelation seems to stem from Alcon Entertainment, the holders of the Blade Runner rights, who may have played a role in its termination, as suggested by leaked documents.
