The Akaviri Katana stands out as one of the most iconic weapons in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and is among the deadliest tools players can acquire early in their journey. This weapon symbolizes The Blades, the Emperor’s personal guards, whose story is deeply intertwined with the game’s main quest.
To obtain the lethal Akaviri Katana, players must first accomplish certain tasks. This guide will show you the steps to acquire this weapon, as well as additional ones for experimenting with different enchantments.
How To Get Akaviri Katana In Oblivion Remastered
After initiating the Tutorial mission, where players join forces with Emperor Uriel Septim to break out of the Imperial Prison, they’ll discover that one of the Blades who perishes in the initial attack by the Mythic Dawn Assassins drops her Akaviri Katana. This will be the first instance of this weapon type in their possession, however, later in the same quest, they will find themselves returning it to Baurus.
To obtain an Akaviri Katana, players must finish a sequence of tasks. Firstly, they need to hand over the Amulet of Kings to Jauffre. Following this, they should complete quests named “Find the Heir” and “Breaking the Siege of Kvatch”. After the Battle for Castle Kvatch, they can return with Martin to Weynon Priory, where they will receive their first horse upon killing the Mythic Dawn invaders.
Currently, players should team up with Jauffre and Martin and make their way to the Cloud Ruler Temple, using the map’s marker as a guide. Once they arrive at this location, they will need to agree to join The Blades in order to gain entry to the Barracks of the Cloud Ruler Temple and receive their initial Akaviri Katana.
Within Cloud Ruler Temple, specifically in the Western Barracks, players will come across another Akaviri Katana resting on a table. Furthermore, in the Armory located to the east, they can discover several more of these swords and a Two-Handed variant – the Akaviri Great Katana.
Of course, it’s worth mentioning that the Dai-Katana offers more power and range, but the one-handed blade holds its own appeal too. Each weapon has its unique charm, so players can choose their preferred style. They can then enhance their chosen weapons at the Altar of Enchantment in the Mages Guild by adding special traits to them.
Currently, you can find a significantly stronger version of the Akaviri Katana, which lets players strike at ethereal foes such as Wisps, Specters, and Ghosts – it’s called the Ancient Akaviri Katana. Players will have two opportunities to obtain these weapons throughout the main questline. The first opportunity arises when they are making their way towards Sancre Tor, an ancient ruin nestled in the Jerall Mountains, during the Blood of the Divines quest. Keep this in mind for when it’s time to upgrade your Akaviri Katana to a superior weapon late in the game.
As a fervent fan, I must say that these mechanical weapons excel at carving through adversaries, and it’s even more impressive when players are proficient in wielding Blade. This proficiency allows them to inflict bleeding on their enemies and pierce the defenses of heavily armored foes.
