All Runes in Last Epoch

In the game ‘Last Epoch’, Rune items function as materials that players can utilize to make immediate alterations to craftable equipment. Unlike Glyphs or Shards which only modify results or add new attributes respectively, Runes bring about more substantial changes to your gear.

In the world of Last Epoch, much like other aspects of its intricate crafting system, acquiring Runes requires some diligent farming for those eager to build up their stockpile. If you’re planning a dedicated crafting session to fine-tune your builds, here’s a helpful guide on how to obtain Runes and gain insights into the unique functions of each one.

How to Farm Runes in Last Epoch

In most instances within the game, Runes are distributed at random. However, they appear to be dropped more often from these specific sources:

1. It’s common for Runes to show up as loot across various sources in the game, but it seems that they drop more frequently from the following:
2. While Runes can be found scattered throughout different loot sources within the game, they tend to appear more often when obtained from the listed items below:
3. In general, you’ll find Runes popping up as loot in many places across the game, but they seem to drop more frequently from these:
4. Throughout the game, Runes are randomly distributed as loot, though they tend to emerge more regularly when obtained from the following:

  • Bosses
  • Chests/Caches
  • Elites
  • Champions
  • Loot Lizards
  • Nemeses

If you joined the Circle of Fortune, you can find and complete Prophecies that reward Runes.

As you progress through the campaign, you’ll encounter a fair amount of Runes during your journey across time. But if you’re looking to specifically farm Runes, you can do so by venturing into the Monolith of Fates and seeking out Echoes that offer Rune rewards.

Each monolith houses a complex network of Echoes (maps) that promise lucrative rewards. Moreover, these maps often feature numerous elite, champion, and Nemesis enemy spawn points, increasing the chances of encountering them as you traverse a map. Engage and defeat these enemies during your flight, and you’ll likely earn some Runes in return.

Last Epoch: All Runes (& What They Do)

Previously discussed, Runes play significant roles in the process of creating items. It’s important to note that this isn’t always a positive influence since most Runes have the ability to either enhance or potentially damage your items if things don’t go as planned. Here’s what these Runes can accomplish:

1. Enhance an item’s properties, making it more powerful or desirable.
2. Cause unintended consequences, leading to the deterioration or malfunction of an item.

Rune Effect
Rune of Shattering Gain a random number of Affix Shards based on what an item has. Destroys the item in the process.
Rune of Removal Removes a random affix from an item. You receive an equal amount of Shards for that removed Affix.
Rune of Refinement Rerolls all affixes on your item. Keep in mind that affix stat ranges are determined by their tier.
Rune of Discovery Adds random tier 1 affixes to all empty affix slots, with a higher chance of rolling a rare affix. This does not cost Forging Potential, but it cannot be used on items with no Forging Potential.
Rune of Shaping Rerolls the implicit stats on an item.
Rune of Ascendance Completely transforms an item into a Unique or Set Item of the same type. This Rune cannot transform items into Uniques or Set Items that are exclusive, like the ones that drop only from bosses.
Rune of Creation Create another copy of an item. Forging Potential of both the original and duplicate items are set to zero.
Rune of Havoc Shuffles the tiers of non-sealed affixes on an Exalted item that has at least four affixes. This does not increase or decrease the tiers of affixes.
Rune of Redemption Changes the Exalted affix on an item to a random one. This does not affect the tier of the affix.
Rune of Weaving Uses the remaining amount of Weaver’s Will or Weaver’s Touch on an item to upgrade the item’s affixes.
