In most Monster Hunter games, you’ll typically encounter 14 different types of weapons, such as tonfas, magnet spikes, accel axes, medium bowguns, and others, which are less common in the main series.

In contrast to other games within the series, Monster Hunter Wilds expands the number of weapons you can carry. This enhancement provides a greater degree of flexibility, enabling players to switch weapons during hunts. This adaptability empowers hunters to craft their unique playstyle and define their own roles during combat.

Ever since Destiny 2: Forsaken rolled out in 2018, I’ve had three weapon slots to play with – Kinetic, Energy, and Power. Each of these weapons comes with its unique ammo supply (the primary and special ammo can be swapped between kinetic and energy weapons) and damage type.

In Destiny 2, a diverse range of approximately 19 distinct weapon categories can be found, disregarding those with different ammunition types that are essentially the same.

Due to the rising adoption and popularity of specialized-round Sidearms such as Buried Bloodline and rocket sidearms, along with specific exotic weapons like the special ammo sword Ergo Sum and heavy trace rifle Microcosm, it’s quite likely that a variety of unique weapon types will be incorporated into the game environment.

In addition to firearms, Cyberpunk 2077 offers a variety of melee weapons, explosives (grenades), and cyberware, which we can group as a single type for simplicity. When you combine these categories, there are a total of 25 distinct weapon types in the game. It’s worth noting that Quick Hacking could also be considered its own unique weapon, but opinions on this may differ.

By skillfully blending the perfect balance of chrome and steel, you can carve out an unforgettable reputation as a Night City icon.

In Baldur’s Gate 3, similar to Dungeons & Dragons, there is an impressive variety of weapons at your disposal for combat.

In the game Baldur’s Gate 3, the combat system is deeply rooted in Dungeons & Dragons’ Fifth Edition ruleset. This means that each weapon category works optimally when wielded by characters who possess specific proficiencies. These proficiencies can boost your attack accuracy and damage output.

For instance, nimble and long-range weaponry suit characters with a more developed Dexterity trait, while larger weapons are ideal for those who have stronger Strength attributes. In addition, certain mystical weapons aren’t employed for close-quarter battles but rather boast magic-infused abilities that mages can harness.

Each character, regardless of race or class, can theoretically wield any kind of weapon. However, to truly exploit the unique benefits each weapon offers, you must be skilled in that specific type of weapon. In total, there are 31 distinct weapon categories, with 19 being martial weapons and another 12 classified as simple weapons.

If you’re not familiar with D&D weapons, martial weapons necessitate a specific level of proficiency for effective use, whereas simple weapons can be handled by anyone, irrespective of their character class.

Just like a high-quality role-playing game should, Elden Ring offers a variety of weapons suitable for diverse gameplay styles and character classes, catering to both new players and those who have traversed its realms multiple times.

In this Soulsborne game, you can choose between two distinct combat styles: one that involves swift attacks using pairs of swords or daggers (referred to as agile), and another focusing on strong, impactful blows with heavy weapons (often humorously referred to as the “bonk” style). Regardless of your preference, this game offers a wide variety of weapons for you to test out and master.

In addition to torches, tools, and downloadable content weapons found in Shadow of the Erdtree, it’s worth noting that there are a grand total of 40 distinct weapon categories in Elden Ring, excluding spells.

As a gamer with an INT build, I find that not all weapons are equally effective for me. For instance, while the Colossal Sword and Katana might be great options for other players, they don’t seem to maximize my potential due to their focus on physical strength rather than intelligence.

Additionally, you can add weapons for your Archwing, Railjack, and Sentinel companion. Accumulating every weapon would be quite an undertaking, taking several years to achieve.

In Warframe, you’ll find approximately 108 distinct types of weapons that you can use with Archwings, Railjacks, and Sentinels combined.

For beginners, there’s no need to worry about the complexities of weapon creation, as they can effectively handle a wide variety of weapon types. Keep grinding and enjoy the process!
