This article contains spoilers from One Piece’s Elbaf arc.
Summary
- The Straw Hats may awaken Haki in Elbaf to face the powerful Holy Knights.
- The crew needs power-ups to stand a chance against the immortal enemies.
- Each member should acquire a specific type of Haki to level up in battle.
At last, the Straw Hat Pirates are engaging in their initial skirmishes during the Final Saga, a moment fans have been eagerly anticipating for quite some time. It’s important to note that the Final Saga of “One Piece” began with Egghead, but this particular storyline stood out because it largely revolved around the Straw Hats evading danger due to the circumstances they found themselves in.
Instead of just skirmishes as seen in Egghead, Elbaf offers a chance for fans to watch the Straw Hat Pirates engage in full-fledged battles now that the Holy Knights are present. This fight promises to showcase their best abilities, and with luck, they may even unleash the power of Haki, making the upcoming battle all the more thrilling.
Why The Straw Hats Will Get Power-Ups In Elbaf
- The Holy Knights Are Immortal
- The Straw Hat Pirates Need To Gain Power Ups
In case you haven’t noticed, the primary antagonists of the Elbaf storyline in “One Piece” are none other than the Holy Knights. Known for their immense power, they rank just below the Five Elders among the Celestial Dragons. What makes them even more intriguing is that they’re often perceived as immortal, a fact confirmed in “One Piece” chapter 1147.

In their current state, the Straw Hat Pirates have no hope whatsoever against the Holy Knights, as Saul clearly explained to Robin and Chopper. Despite Robin’s considerable strength, with a bounty of 930 million berries, confronting immortal beings is beyond her capabilities. This is why Robin and Chopper chose to conceal themselves rather than engage the Holy Knights in battle.
As I neared the climax of One Piece chapter 1147, it was unmistakable that Nico Robin was gearing up for a fierce battle – a clear sign that her power is about to surge! The same goes for my fellow Straw Hat Pirates, who are currently locked in combat with the Holy Knights. In this epic struggle against these formidable foes, we’re not just fighting, we’re evolving. We’re showing our fans that even without the Monster Trio, the Straw Hat crew has what it takes to be recognized as a Yonko-level force!
What Type Of Haki Should Each Straw Hat Gain In Elbaf?
The Straw Hats Need Armament Haki The Most
It’s evident that most members of the Straw Hat Pirates likely require the use of Haki, but the specific type they should acquire depends on Oda’s planned storyline progression. For example, Usopp already possessed Observation Haki, so in Elbaf, he might enhance his abilities with Armament Haki. On the other hand, Franky currently lacks any form of Haki and could benefit from acquiring at least one type. Nami, who may only require Observation Haki for improved weather prediction, is without either type of Haki. However, Robin, in her fights against the Holy Knights, would greatly benefit from possessing both Armament and Observation Haki.
I won’t let them! — Robin and Gaban in One Piece 1147
It seems doubtful that Chopper won’t acquire any Haki at this point in time. At best, Brook could potentially gain Observation Haki. Meanwhile, Jinbe currently possesses both Armament and Observation Haki. Yet, he requires advanced Haki to effectively counter his adversaries. If Jinbe were to master Advanced Armament Haki, it would cause significant damage to the Holy Knights, which would undoubtedly be an exciting spectacle for the fans.

Even though Haki alone won’t give the Straw Hat Pirates a decisive advantage against the Holy Knights in the upcoming battle, fans are confident that Gaban is on his way to join them. If Gaban successfully creates an opening with his Conqueror’s Haki, it will provide the Straw Hats an opportunity to utilize their newly acquired abilities and potentially weaken the armor of the Holy Knights.
One Piece Chapter 1147 is coming up real soon, within this week itself. As always, you can expect the new chapter to be published on the upcoming Sunday. In Japan, it will be released at 12AM JST on Monday. But for most international readers, they’ll get to read it on April 20th. The official release date is set for April 27, 2025. Excitingly, fans can enjoy reading the chapter for free on Manga Plus!
