In October, the anime series titled “Wandance,” created by teams at Madhouse and Cyclone Graphics, is scheduled to air as part of the Fall 2025 anime season. Actors Koki Uchiyama and Hina Yomiya will be voicing the main characters Kaboku Kotani and Hikari Wanda respectively.
What is Wandance About?
A New Addition to the Dance Anime Subgenre

Wandance, penned by Coffee, revolves around Kaboku Kotani, a shy first-year high school student who struggles with a stutter, yearning for a tranquil, unassuming adolescence. His speech impairment often isolates him from others. However, one day he witnesses Hikari Wanda, another first-year at the same school, dancing exuberantly as if no one was watching. This sparks in Kaboku a desire to be as carefree as she appeared that day, leading him to join the dance club.
Since the start of January 2019, the manga titled “Wandance” has been regularly featured in Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon magazine, encompassing a total of 13 volumes so far. These volumes are said to have reached an impressive circulation of approximately 900,000 copies. The rights for the English version of “Wandance” have been licensed for publication by Kodansha USA.
Previously mentioned, the forthcoming “Wandance” anime is being developed by Madhouse Studios, renowned for productions like “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End,” “Death Note,” and “Bakuman.” They are working together with Cyclone Graphics. Michiya Kato is the director, while K-Pop choreographer RIEHATA takes on the role of dance producer. At this point, no additional staff details have been disclosed. Voice actor Koki Uchiyama, recognized for his portrayal of Tomura Shigaraki in “My Hero Academia,” is cast as Kaboku Kotani. He will be joined by Hina Yomiya, who played Anna Yamada in “The Dangers of My Heart” (coincidentally, she also played Anna Yamada in “Twi-Yaba”).
