In ARPGs like Last Epoch, minion-based builds are frequently the most powerful for the early stages, and this is particularly true in this game. The Acolyte and her undead horde can easily crush monsters during the campaign, offering an effortless path to reach the Monolith of Fates.
In Last Epoch, this particular build is noticeably less complex than many others due to the way minions function. Essentially, players only need to move around and call forth whatever minion happens to perish. If you find this approach appealing, here’s a concise guide for an Acolyte class build with a focus on the Necromancer subclass.
Last Epoch: Acolyte Minion Build (League Starter)
In this setup, we’ll exclusively rely on minions for clearing the campaign and initial Monolith of Fates maps. It requires minimal player involvement, mainly respawning Wraiths and Zombies, and occasionally guiding your undead force on where to move or whom to target.
Skills
- Summon Skeleton
- Summon Golem
- Summon Skeletal Mage
- Summon Wraith
- Summon Zombie/Assemble Abomination
As you advance in the game, aim to acquire and deploy a variety of minion types for maximum quantity. Your primary sources of damage come from your archers, mages, and explosive zombies. This setup resembles the minion-focused builds of other classes but demands less player input.
To bring forth the Abomination using Assemble Abomination, firstly, offer up your skeletons as a sacrifice. Once that’s done, proceed to start the map. Afterward, summon all your remaining minions. By doing this, you will ensure that your strength is at its maximum even before departing from your initial position.
Skill Trees
For this construction project, we plan to modify our minions to inflict Fire damage, thereby enhancing our army’s overall damage capacity and providing many of our minions with a chance to ignite enemies, boosting their Damage Per Second (DPS). Here are the essential passive abilities you should aim to acquire for your skills:
Skills | Passives |
---|---|
Summon Skeleton | Fire Arrow Multishot Lone Guardian Marrow Walkers Hollow Walkers Grave Walkers |
Summon Golem | Pyre Golem Twinned Golems Tower of Bones |
Summon Wraiths | Flame Wraith Twin Spirits Sequel of Avarice |
Summon Skeletal Mage | Pyromancers Inferno Flame Rot Splintered Dominion |
Assemble Abomination | Spoils of War Flesh and Blood Dead Eye Fractured End Repugnant Presence |
Use any remaining points to buy skills that suit your preference, with a particular focus on nodes that enhance the survival rate of your minions. These nodes are highly suggested.
Passive Trees
From my perspective as a passionate player, prioritize discovering nodes that enhance minion statistics and your personal survivability. Health-boosting passives or ones that offer Wards are fantastic finds, particularly those that interact with minion summoning or minion demise.
Minion Build Passives (50 Points) | |
---|---|
Acolyte Tree | Blood Aura (5) Stolen Vitality (5) Dark Rituals (5) Crimson Gluttony (5) |
Necromancer Tree | Risen Army (6) Blood Armour (5) Mortal Tether (5) Wisp Weaver (5) Dark Retribution (3) Unbound Necromancy (1) Frantic Summons (5) Tyrant (3) River of Bones (5) Tyrant’s Legion (5) Heresy (7) |
Gear and Stats

This construction doesn’t demand any Unique or Set Items specifically, but it does suggest several effective items that enhance minions directly. Should you chance upon these suggested items, feel free to include them in your strategy. Here they are:
1. Avarice Band
2. The Wandering Blacksmith
3. The Lizardman’s Mitts
4. The Reaver’s Dream
5. The Shrouded Tower
6. The Sage’s Guardian
7. The Vengeful Spirit
8. The Binding of Isaah
9. The Fleshrender’s Spikeguard
10. The Thunderstruck
11. The Warlord’s Mandate
12. The Legion’s Grasp

Regarding equipment stats, prioritize increasing both minion damage and durability. For durability, concentrate on enhancing Minion Bow and Spell Damage since archers and mages inflict the most damage among your troops. However, don’t overlook your own survivability either, and as a general rule, always aim to boost your resistances as soon as possible.
