The highly-anticipated game titled “Elden Ring: Nightreign” is quickly approaching its launch in late May, and fans everywhere are eagerly preparing for it. At the Game Awards 2024, this multiplayer-centric roguelike take on “Elden Ring” took viewers by surprise with its premiere, and now, with another multiplayer game from FromSoftware named “The Duskbloods” slated for the Nintendo Switch 2, it’s about to prove whether their innovative ideas were worth the effort. Although there may not be as much excitement surrounding “Elden Ring: Nightreign” compared to a typical new release from FromSoftware,
In the game called Nightreign, players will embark on an adventure with the option of selecting from eight unique characters known as Nightfarers to face off against one of eight powerful entities known as Night Lords. Players can choose to take on this challenge alone or with two allies for support. It’s worth noting that while some of the enemies found in Elden Ring Nightreign are remnants from previous games like Dark Souls and Elden Ring, the Nightfarers and Night Lords appear to be completely new. Although only one Night Lord has been confirmed in Nightreign‘s beta, six of the eight Nightfarers have been given names through various previews. The last two were recently spotted in a leak on X, and although they are expected to be officially revealed soon, some details about each character have already leaked out.
What’s Known About Elden Ring Nightreign’s Nightfarers
While only six characters labeled as “Nightfarers” have been officially designated, a total of seven such individuals have appeared in the promotional materials for Elden Ring Nightreign. Here’s a list of these characters:
- Wylder
- Guardian
- Duchess
- Recluse
- Ironeye
- Raider
- Executor
In the initial unveiling of Elden Ring Nightreign, the Executor was one of the two previously unnamed Nightfarers disclosed. While their appearance wasn’t entirely unexpected, it was during the promotional cycle that all seven Nightfarers received their names. However, with the continuous release of character trailers, the mystery surrounding the Executor will soon be lifted.
Information about the previously unnamed character, the Executor, was quickly gathered from the revelation in Nightreign, and fans have been eagerly anticipating this enigmatic armored figure for some time now. Their distinctive weapon seems to be a long sword that they skillfully wield with only one hand, capable of being imbued with an apparent holy energy prior to a powerful slash. What many players are speculating about, though, is the Executor’s potential passive ability, which appears to be a permanent Deflecting Hardtear status akin to the parrying skills found in Sekiro. For those seeking this ability, the Executor could potentially revolutionize gameplay.
Elden Ring Nightreign’s Revenant Could Be Its Biggest Surprise
It was pleasant to assign a name to the Executor’s design, but it fails to match the intrigue generated by the enigmatic figure known as the Revenant. This elusive eighth Nightfarer was barely mentioned in the marketing for Elden Ring Nightreign, hinted at as the sole character capable of using Spirit Ashes from Elden Ring. These Ashes are said to function differently, and the female Revenant certainly makes an impression among her fellow Nightfarers with her predominantly white color scheme and a unique weapon that is exclusive to both Elden Ring and FromSoftware’s Soulslike series.
How The Revenant Could Be Elden Ring Nightreign’s Unique Nightfarer
In the game Elden Ring, unique magical weapons called Ashes of War are present, similar to blunt instruments. However, among the hundreds of weapons available in both Elden Ring and Shadow of the Erdtree, there is no simple instrument akin to the Revenant’s harp. The Revenant class, with its ability to utilize Spirit Ashes, may offer a distinct gameplay experience unlike any other character in Nightreign. Furthermore, leaks suggest that the Revenant, as their name implies, could be a necromancer, capable of summoning some of Elden Ring’s skeletal enemies and enchantments. Given that this leak also correctly predicted the Executor’s name, it seems that players can anticipate both familiar and fresh experiences in Elden Ring Nightreign.
