This post contains spoilers for One Piece.
Summary
- Holy Knights fear Luffy, as seen in their caution towards provoking him in combat.
- Luffy is likely to return to fight the Holy Knights alongside Nico Robin and Scopper Gaban.
- Speculation suggests a possible timeskip after Elbaf battle, leading to potential destruction of Elbaf if Giants do not side with World Government.
The popular manga series “One Piece” is gathering momentum, having now reached a crucial point. The Holy Knights are poised to act, and they’re unlikely to squander precious time as they strive to accomplish their objectives.
To this point, the Holy Knights have seemed undefeatable, swiftly overcoming Nami’s team consisting of Jimbei, Brook, and Usopp. This has led many fans to believe they are invincible in battle. However, one must wonder if it is accurate to claim that the Holy Knights cannot be defeated in combat?
Oda Confirms That Holy Knights Fear Luffy
In Chapter 1147, Killingham reprimanded Sommers, explaining that the Holy Knights were in Elbaf not to instigate Monkey D. Luffy. This dialogue suggests that the Holy Knights recognize Luffy’s power and aim to avoid any actions that might prompt the pirate to direct his hostility towards them.
Another instance showing the Holy Knights’ apprehension towards Luffy was when Sommers reprimanded Gunko for attempting to force Brook into servitude. Sommers warned her off, stating that he had no desire to engage in battle with an Emperor, thus implying that the Holy Knights are cautious around Luffy and aware of the potential consequences of angering him.
When Will Luffy Return To Fight The Holy Knights?
Luffy Might Not Return For At Least A Couple Of Chapters

In his latest appearance, Luffy was found sprawled out flat, having overindulged in a massive feast. His physique swelled up like an inflated balloon, signaling he’d eaten far too much. Notably, Luffy was reclining beside Loki, who also appeared to have overeaten. It appears that creator Eiichiro Oda may be delaying Luffy’s involvement for now. Interestingly, the author has arranged a large-scale battle for Nico Robin and Scopper Gaban in Chapter 1148 instead. Both characters share a common goal – rescuing the children from the grip of the Holy Knights.
It seems quite possible that Nico Robin will engage in a battle with Gunko, the one who harmed Brook. Given her strong sense of loyalty towards her crew, it’s unlikely that she would overlook this act of wrongdoing. On another note, Scopper Gaban is expected to face off against Shepherd Sommers. Known for his cruel and twisted nature, Sommers derives pleasure from causing pain to others. He even romanticizes the suffering he inflicts on people.
Gaban Will Attack the Holy Knights To Save His Son

Audience members are aware that Gaban was dispatched to save the kids by Ripley following her discovery that Collun had been kidnapped by the Holy Knights. The upcoming confrontation between Gaban and Sommers will offer fans insight into just how powerful he truly is. It’s already common knowledge that Gaban possesses remarkable mastery over his Observation Haki, allowing him to perceive the presence of the Holy Knights despite their attempts at concealment. In this battle, Gaban’s Observation Haki will undoubtedly prove crucial, as Sommers can conjure invisible thorny vines. A person with weaker Observation Haki would likely fall prey to Sommers, but Gaban is no ordinary being.
I won’t let them do this!!! Scopper Gaban
If Robin manages to match Gunko’s abilities, Gaban might discover a vulnerability that lets him defeat Sommers. Once he identifies this weakness, both the Straw Hats and other combatants can exploit it. Moreover, it seems reasonable to infer that the Holy Knights and Gorosei share the same source of immortality. Consequently, if Gaban figures out a way to circumvent this immortality factor, Luffy may be able to overpower the Gorosei in future encounters.
Will The Straw Hats Lose In Elbaf?
It’s been proposed by many fans that the Straw Hat pirates could suffer a defeat on Elbaf, potentially triggering another time jump since some of its members are still relatively weak. This scenario might also imply that Elbaf is at risk of destruction, leaving the Giants in peril unless they choose to ally with the World Government. If Luffy manages to persuade Loki to fight alongside them against the Holy Knights, it’s likely that our heroes will emerge victorious and save Elbaf from being obliterated.
