You Won’t Believe These Final Fantasy Characters Who Defied Death and Came Back!

Summary

  • Characters in Final Fantasy often cheat death, coming back to life or revealing they were never truly dead to begin with.
  • Many iconic characters like Sephiroth and Tidus return from death to continue their stories in various sequels.
  • The series presents alternate endings where fallen party members are revived, adding complexity and emotional depth to the narratives.

In the world of Final Fantasy, characters’ fates aren’t always wrapped up neatly; some even meet their end and disappear without a trace. Yet, there are instances that deviate from this pattern, leading to compelling narratives as players encounter deceased characters who reappear, either offering aid or posing challenges for the heroes.

In various Final Fantasy series, several figures have miraculously evaded death and resurfaced. While some of these resurrections are subtly hinted at and require interpretation from players, others leave no room for doubt that the characters were alive all along.

8. Joshua Rosfield

Given The Author Of The Book At The End Of The Game, It Seems That He Survived

In Final Fantasy 16, Joshua Rosfield appears to have perished not just one time, but twice in an unusual turn of events. Initially, it happens when Clive loses control and supposedly slays Phoenix in the early stages of the game.

In the end, it’s uncovered that Eikon is indeed alive, and the brothers join forces once more, striving together to release Bearers from the magical bondage in Valisthea. He appears to forfeit his life before the climactic battle, bestowing power upon Clive, but hints of survival linger as an epilogue reveals a book bearing his name.

7. Auron

Dies At Yunalesca’s Hands But Comes Back To Guide Tidus And Help Save The World Of Spira

As a formidable fighter and an ideal choice for combat, Auron stands out as a cherished figure in the world of Final Fantasy. His enigmatic persona frequently leaves players in awe. What makes him even more intriguing is the unveiling of his past connections with Braska and Jecht.

It’s revealed that his friends perished following their expedition, which enraged Auron enough to confront Yunalesca. Tragically, he was slain during this encounter. However, he later reappeared as an Unsent, aiding Tidus in navigating Spira and ultimately assisting the heroes in ending the recurring cycle of devastation that plagues their world.

6. Bartz, Lenna, Krile, And/Or Faris

The Party Members Who Are Dead When Neo Exdeath Dies Are Revived In An Alternate Ending

Despite Final Fantasy 5 not being primarily focused on a narrative-driven adventure, its effort in offering two distinct endings is commendable. In case a party member falls during the battle against Neo Exdeath, they’re unable to escape from the Void and it appears as though they are swallowed up by it.

Nevertheless, the heroes persist without losing faith and perform a ritual to resurrect their fallen companions at the game’s conclusion. This heartwarming ending is surprisingly bold for its era, making it unfortunate that fewer players are aware of this unique scene in Final Fantasy 5.

5. Emperor Mateus

The Emperor Dies, Only To Come Back Stronger Than Ever As A Demon From Hell

Regardless of any criticisms about its gameplay, Final Fantasy 2 is highly valued by numerous fans due to its timeless tale of oppressive empires and resilient rebellions. In this game, players assume the role of a band of orphans who rise against Emperor Mateus, ultimately overpowering him in battle.

Nevertheless, the Emperor’s craving for power knows no bounds, not even a journey to the deepest realms of Hell can deter him. He manages to break free from the underworld, transforming into an emperor possessed by demons, gaining unprecedented strength and paving the way for a climactic, epic showdown.

4. Yang Fang Leiden

Assumed To Be Dead, Only For The Heroes To Find Out That He Survived

In Final Fantasy 4, it’s a recurring pattern for characters to seemingly perish, only to miraculously live on later. The most distressing instance of this occurs when Yang secludes himself within a room in the Tower of Babil, attempting to halt its turrets from annihilating the dwarves’ home. However, he does not actually meet his end in this scenario.

In this turret chamber, an explosion occurs, leading everyone to believe that Yang has perished. However, it turns out that he miraculously survived. It remains puzzling how he managed to escape death’s grasp, particularly since he was abandoned by the group as they continued their journey without him.

3. Sephiroth

Comes Back To Fight Cloud Once Again In Advent Children

As I wield the legendary Omnislash against Sephiroth in Final Fantasy 7, I can’t help but feel the power coursing through me as he crumbles into fragments. Yet, the immense popularity of this game led Square Enix to resurrect this iconic villain by producing a sequel movie.

The movie “Advent Children” might not offer a clear explanation regarding Sephiroth’s Remnants’ plans to resurrect him, yet witnessing the real One-Winged Angel was still an awe-inspiring sight. Despite this, a fierce battle between Sephiroth and Cloud ensued, culminating when Cloud unleashed a highly powered Omnislash, which appears to mark the end of Sephiroth’s story forever.

2. Tidus

A Dream Of The Fayth Who’s Allowed To Return To The Land Of The Living

  • Final Fantasy 10

Tidus’ enthusiasm sometimes comes across as overpowering, yet it’s precisely this trait that makes him such a unique character. Remember, despite learning about his destiny, he chooses to embrace it fully if it means rescuing Yuna and ending the cycle of devastation in Spira.

In Final Fantasy 10, he departed to another plane at its conclusion, but those who strive for the 100% ending in Final Fantasy 10-2 will encounter a scene where he is granted a return to the world of the living. It’s a touching moment that beautifully concludes Tidus and Yuna’s journey.

1. The Warriors Of Light

The Heroes Are Revived After The Cloud Of Darkness Kills Them

Among the formidable bosses in the series, The Cloud of Darkness is particularly daunting. With the intent of annihilating the world, she mercilessly vanquishes the Champions of Light, relentlessly pushing ahead with her wicked scheme.

Fortunately, Doga and Unei, two of Noah’s disciples, miraculously restore life to the heroes and depart. It isn’t until the Warriors of Darkness give their lives to weaken the Dark Cloud that Luneth, Arc, Refia, and Ingus rise to the occasion, overcoming a tough, exhausting fight to ultimately save the day.
