10 Upcoming Switch 2 Games That Justify Pre-Ordering

There’s always an air of excitement and wild anticipation when new gaming consoles are announced. Being a dedicated Nintendo enthusiast, I’ve rarely faced issues regarding the availability of previous models. However, with the rumored release of the Switch 2, I may find myself in slightly uncharted territory.

From the instant registration for the console began, it became apparent that ensuring a system on its release day would prove to be quite a challenge. However, this only seems to intensify the resolve of the dedicated fans.

If you’re hesitant about getting a Switch 2, I encourage you to consider it, because there are plenty of exciting games coming out for it that make it worth buying before the release date. We can set aside for now the challenges involved in securing one.

Regardless of whether you’re a fan of Nintendo’s renowned first-party titles, intrigued by their collaborative second-party creations, or eager to explore offerings from third-party developers and publishers, there’s always something to cater to your preferences.

Let’s dive right into discussing the exciting upcoming Switch 2 journeys that make a pre-order worth considering!

10.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

Beyond a Long Wait

It’s hard to believe that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, a game we first heard about at E3 in 2017, is still in development. You might recall that E3 was once a well-known gaming event. It’s even more surprising when you consider that the last Metroid Prime game, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, was released all the way back in 2007.

If you find it disappointing that Metroid Prime 4 is positioned lower on this list, let me clarify. Although the game remains highly anticipated by many, following such an extended period of waiting, not all were content with the initial unveiling during the Switch 2 presentation.

The game seemed quite fundamental given that it’s being played on both the Switch and Switch 2 systems. Although I’m willing to cut it some slack in terms of less advanced graphics on the Switch, the one for the new console should appear significantly more visually appealing.

Speaking of which, if “Metroid Prime 4: Beyond” follows in the footsteps of its predecessors, it promises to be an exceptional, immersive journey that offers deeper understanding of our beloved interstellar bounty hunter. Fingers crossed it’s worth the anticipation!

Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion

Everyone Loves Giant Robots

Typically, I’d get really excited about a game with customizable colossal robots. However, during my trial of the initial Daemon X Machina game, I encountered some concerns regarding the control setup.

Regardless, the imminent sequel, “Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion,” seems exceptionally impressive. If it manages to enhance its control mechanisms to complement its stunning graphics, it could become a remarkable journey for the hypothetical Nintendo Switch 2.

Although the game isn’t going to be a console-exclusive, I strongly feel it’s ideally suited for brief play sessions on a handheld device (or a console that mimics a portable gaming experience).

Personally speaking, if Nintendo manages to strengthen and smooth out their online functionality, battling colossal robots alongside friends in Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion promises an exhilarating experience like no other!

8.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment

Hyrulian Apocalypse Now

Among all “Hyrule Warriors” games, each one offers stunning visuals and thrilling fights. However, it’s the narrative in “Age of Imprisonment” that initially hooked me.

I’m quite captivated by the way it narrates a tale that takes place before the occurrences in both “Breath of the Wild” and “Tears of the Kingdom”, and knowing it’s a part of the official timeline is an added bonus, much like finding extra frosting on a delicious cake.

Considering the meticulous work Koei-Tecmo pours into their designs, it seems reasonable to conclude that “Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment” would be optimally enjoyed on the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 platform.

7.
Professor Layton and the New World of Steam

I Love the Thrill of a Good Solution

Speaking for all us die-hard Professor Layton series enthusiasts, I’m thrilled to learn that he’ll be back on the Nintendo Switch 2!

It seemed to me that the popular LEVEL 5 franchise had come to an end, given the releases like Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright and Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy.

It appears that Professor Layton still has another adventure awaiting him in “Professor Layton and the New World of Steam.

Despite our limited knowledge of the game, I eagerly anticipate that it will be another intriguing blend of challenging logic puzzles and a captivating storyline, complete with character development that resonates emotionally.

6.
Enter the Gungeon 2

Locked and Loaded

Similar to the last installment, “Enter the Gungeon 2” remains shrouded in mystery for me right now. Yet, my fondness for Devolver Digital and the earlier Gungeon games compels me to mention it on this list, despite the game not expected to launch until next year.

One thing that’s clear from the preview is that this unforeseen sequel will feature larger and more menacing elements. The trailer suggests an array of Bullet Kin being swallowed and metamorphosing into a colossal, three-dimensional figure made up of countless smaller bullets.

If Enter the Gungeon 2 is anything like its predecessor or Exit the Gungeon, it promises a challenging gameplay experience packed with madness, along with numerous incentives for dedicated gamers. I’m definitely interested!

5.
Hollow Knight: Silksong

Back Into Hallownest

For those who supported Hollow Knight in the past, it’s fantastic news that Silksong’s arrival is imminent! Admittedly, Metroid fans endured a more prolonged wait for Metroid Prime 4, but eight years is certainly an extended period.

As a devoted admirer, I understand and appreciate that Team Cherry, being a compact indie crew, likely requires more time to unveil such an expansive project as this one. I’m more than ready to exercise patience, knowing the extraordinary effort they pour into their work.

Another reason could be that they are exceptionally talented in their field, and I prefer to await a true masterpiece from them instead of settling for an early amateur effort.

In my excitement for Silksong, I can’t help but imagine that Hornet’s journey will be nothing short of enchanting and emotionally poignant, much like the original adventure.

4.
Mario Kart World

Race To the Finish Line

I’m sure many of you expected Mario Kart World to take the gold on this particular list.

Even though I’m really looking forward to the upcoming launch, I have to admit that I’m not particularly fond of the series due to the fact that I struggle with racing video games.

Incidentally, I find the open-world design of “Mario Kart World” quite intriguing. This isn’t only due to the fact that I can easily lose my way on a racetrack and end up in a mad dash to keep up with the others.

As a gamer, I can’t wait to dive into this game on my Switch 2, knowing that with the updated GameChat feature, playing with friends will feel more dynamic and engaging than ever before!

3.
Hades II

Sister to the Rescue

As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but gush over Hades! Initially, I was just a casual observer in the realm of adventure games, but once I dipped my toes into this mesmerizing world on my trusty Nintendo Switch, I found myself completely immersed for countless months.

Supergiant Games, known for its skillful work, is embarking on its first sequel project. This is a significant leap for them, as they carry the weight of high expectations.

Based on all the information I’ve gathered about Hades II so far, they seem to be handling anticipation effectively. Although it appears to be a blast already on Steam early access, I plan to hold off until its release on Switch 2.

Playing video games extensively has shown me that roguelike games are more enjoyable when played on a portable device.

I’m eagerly looking forward to setting off with Melinoe on the upcoming console soon; let’s hope Supergiant doesn’t make us wait excessively long!

2.
Donkey Kong Bananza

Barrel Full of Fun

In all honesty, there was a fleeting instant when I believed that “Donkey Kong Bananza” would claim the number one spot on the list. However, despite not bagging the top prize, I’m still brimming with anticipation for this impending escapade!

One significant change is that the revamped visual design now gives our beloved ape a more animated and expressive appearance. Initially, this change didn’t resonate with me, but soon enough, I found myself growing fond of it.

Apart from its stunning visuals, “Donkey Kong Bananza” appears to follow the trend of updating Donkey Kong’s newest escapade in a manner reminiscent of the “Super Mario Galaxy” style of innovation.

It’s a 3D world you can explore (and destroy) quite freely, interspersed with classic 2D levels.

What stands out most in “Donkey Kong Bananza” is its imminent arrival, as it’s set to drop this coming July on the Switch 2. It promises to be an exceptional exclusive, yet another title has left me utterly excited!

1.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade

Head in the Clouds

The Final Fantasy VII remakes have been haunting me for a while now.

Initially, I experienced the excitement of E3 for the second and final time. Later, at a recent New York Comic Con, I was fortunate enough to be part of the audience, listening to the gifted voice artists who work on the series.

It wasn’t something I ever expected to happen, but surprisingly, I can now play one of the remakes on my Nintendo Switch. That’s why I’m incredibly excited that “Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade” is making its way to Switch 2!

As a longtime enthusiast of the initial game, I must acknowledge that it appears somewhat outdated nowadays. Yet, the stunning facelift featuring entirely revamped combat, narrative, and mechanics has certainly piqued my interest as an original fan.

I can’t wait until “Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade” officially transitions and lands on Nintendo’s most recent gaming system, and I’ll be there ready to battle for its future!
