The debut of Stadium Gameplay in Overwatch 2 during Season 16 introduces a novel twist to gameplay. In this mode, players select from a carefully curated roster of heroes, without the option for counter-swapping, and engage in shorter matches to accumulate funds that can be spent on special perks and items to augment their characters with additional abilities, passives, and other enhancements.
Players new to this game mode might find the abundance of choices a bit daunting, as there are multiple abilities and three main categories (Weapons, Abilities, Survivability) with three sub-categories each for skill progression during a match. To help you get started and learn the game more easily, here’s a guide focusing on the top builds for the Support hero, Lucio, in Overwatch 2.
Overwatch Stadium: Best Lucio Builds, Explained
Regarding Lucio, many players understand that his healing rates might not be as impressive as other heroes because they’re dispersed through an Area of Effect (AOE) at a gradual pace. Yet, Lucio compensates significantly by offering exceptional utility to his team with his Speed Boost skill. Typically, Lucio functions as an off-healer, contributing to his team by speed-boosting them during and outside of battles, pushing adversaries away to create space, and utilizing Wallride movement to pursue final kills or help secure picks for his team, or protect a teammate from harm.
In the stadium, a Lucio player has two distinct playstyles to choose from. One of these builds focuses on enhancing his healing power to handle more during skirmishes and lessen Ultimate Charge cooldown, thereby maximizing Sound Barrier’s impact in crucial moments. This build primarily emphasizes healing and protecting teammates – distributing substantial healing to keep up through battles, nullifying harmful abilities and cool-downs with Sound Barrier, and shielding teammates using Speed Boost, agility, and Boop for mobility.
From my perspective as an avid fan, I’d like to highlight the DPS Lucio build that significantly boosts his speed and weapon capabilities. Essentially, this transformation turns him into a formidable nuisance capable of harassing enemy backlines, disrupting their positions, and applying immense pressure on the offensive front.
Overwatch Stadium: DPS Lucio Build

DPS Lucio Build – Powers
First Round: Let’s Rebound – Soundwave gains a 30% boost in pushback and inflicts an additional 40 points of damage when the target collides with a surface.
Round 3: Reverb – Gain 1 extra charge of Soundwave.
In Round 5: Vivace, while you’re wall-riding or in the air, Soundwave cools down 25% quicker and grants an additional ammo point every second up until you reload.
7th Round: Audience Favorite – Following the use of Soundwave, amplify the healing effect of Crossfade on allied characters by a factor of 2 times.
As a fan, I’d say that Vivace and Crowd Pleaser are essentially swap-able in certain situations. If you find yourself needing extra healing support during a match, opting for Crowd Pleaser first could be beneficial. By the time we reach Round 7, you can enhance its effect by reducing its cooldown, ensuring that your Boop/Burst heal is always ready when you need it most.
Fundamentally, this setup enhances your movement speed, boosts the effectiveness of your boop, and increases the damage output of your primary weapon. The bullets that ricochet are particularly effective at exerting pressure in choke points, allowing them to bounce off corners, walls, and even aid in distant kills confirmations. Jumping headfirst into round 2 with this item alone can be an excellent strategy that sets the build in motion from round 3 onwards. But for a more leisurely rhythm, consider waiting until round 3 to unlock it. Delaying longer is generally not advisable unless you have a clear plan for an alternative setup.
Boosting your boop’s power amplifies its danger significantly. This enhanced boop not only lets you push enemies further away but also inflicts more damage when they collide with a wall. With this newfound capability, you can easily knock back Tanks or perform a Wallride attack into the enemy rear lines, dealing lethal double boops that might send them flying off the map. Additionally, your boop now comes with a healing burst, and its cooldown has been reduced due to the second charge. This means you can use it every 4-5 seconds to apply continuous pressure while also supplying your team with a healing burst each time.
In terms of gear selection, prioritize items that enhance the speed of your main weapon’s attack. When combined with ricochet bullets, a faster speed makes it simpler to clear out kills with them. Boosting your Ability power (related to soundwave/boop) is equally crucial, as it can stack with your increased damage on wall hits, turning the boop into a potent tool. However, the core of this build lies in choosing specific items for Lucio that boost his boop, movement, or speed. Here are some top choices for each phase of a Stadium match, outlined below.
(Alternative Phrasing)
For equipment selection, focus on items that make your main weapon’s attack faster. When used with ricochet bullets, a quicker speed makes it easier to eliminate kills using them. Increasing your Ability power (associated with soundwave/boop) is equally significant because it can accumulate with your increased damage from wall hits, transforming the boop into an effective weapon. The heart of this setup, though, revolves around selecting items for Lucio that specifically improve his boop, movement, or speed. Below, you’ll find top suggestions for each stage of a Stadium match.
To aid you in locating these items within the game, each one is tagged with a distinct identifier: WPN (Weapon), ABL (Ability), SURV (Survival). Some Items might appear in various stages of the game. Depending on your taste, the currency you possess, or the current state of the match, you could opt for immediate large purchases early to significantly boost performance in the early-mid game, or adopt a more gradual improvement strategy for the mid-late game.

Overwatch Stadium: Heal-Buffed Lucio Build

Heal-Buffed Lucio Build – Powers
In Round 1, amplify the duration of Megaphone by 20%, and while it’s activated, boost its crossfade radius by 150%.
In Round 3, the ability “Beat Drop” reduces the ultimate charge cost by 20%, and if it lands on an opponent while the Sound Barrier is active, it can deal up to 200 points of damage.
In the fifth round, let’s go with a crowd-pleasing move! Following the use of Soundwave, boost the healing of any allies afflicted by Crossfade by twice the amount of Crossfade’s healing effect.
7th Round: Mixed Playlist – Following the activation of Healing Boost, Crossfade provides healing equivalent to half of its total healing output for each second that Speed Boost is active.
This strategy focuses on amplifying Lucio’s healing capacity by enhancing his healing duration and amounts using your abilities. Additionally, it reduces the cooldowns for his powers, including his Ultimate Charge cost. With this setup, Lucio primarily collects Sound Barrier for each team fight. Since Sound Barrier is a substantial Ultimate that can nullify the effects of multiple other Ults and significantly impact survival and victory in a team fight (and thus the round), this build primarily optimizes Lucio’s ‘Support’ role by providing robust healing, consistent utility through Speed Boost, and considerable crowd control potential using his boop (which now also increases healing).
For this construction, the components seem geared toward enhancing your power capabilities or lessening your skill cooldowns. This allows for a faster rotation of your abilities, making it easier to gather Sound Barriers at an astonishing pace.
