Bethesda wants you to suggest ideas for Oblivion Remastered, so get over there and tell it to add more shortcut slots and a difficulty between Adept and Expert

2025 finds us immersed in a fresh and intriguing world with Bethesda’s re-release of Oblivion. The remastered version has addressed certain rough edges from the original game, kept cherished aspects intact, and added some innovative features as well.

By 2025, we’ve been exploring a revamped version of Oblivion. The remastered edition has fixed some problems from the initial release, maintained beloved elements, and introduced new features too!

Currently, Bethesda is asking the gaming community to share their thoughts on where the development of ‘Oblivion’ might head next, through a dedicated channel on its Discord platform titled ‘#oblivion-suggestions’. Players are flooding this space with a variety of ideas, beliefs, opinions, and suggestions.

In simpler terms, some of these ideas sound unrealistic to me, such as transferring Skyrim’s combat system into Oblivion. However, there are other proposals that seem very promising. Among the current suggestions, a common one is to tweak the difficulty level in Oblivion Remastered, and I wholeheartedly support this idea.

As a gamer immersed in The Elder Scrolls V: Oblivion Remastered, I must admit that the game’s default difficulty setting, Adept, is quite lenient. I barely sustain any damage from enemies and find it a breeze to eliminate most foes with just a few arrows or fireballs. However, when I decide to ramp up the challenge to Expert, it becomes overwhelming. There doesn’t seem to be a ‘just right’ difficulty level that strikes the perfect balance – one that feels engaging without being too hard. Interestingly, this sentiment is echoed by many members on Bethesda’s Discord server. A quick search reveals over 5,000 gamers expressing similar views, with a common complaint being the significant gap between Adept and Expert difficulty settings.

Beyond merely discussing challenges, there are numerous lifestyle enhancements that people are advocating for, and I wholeheartedly agree. For instance, instead of sorting inventory based on weight, value, or alphabetically, allowing sorting by item type would be a game-changer. This would significantly simplify the search for potions and ingredients. Additionally, the ability to sell multiple items at once is a must-have feature. Moreover, displaying encumbrance in loot menus would be almost essential. Lastly, increasing the number of shortcut slots from eight would be greatly beneficial, as it currently feels limiting. If developers at Bethesda or Virtuos could consider this request, I’d be most grateful.
