As a die-hard fan of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, let me tell you, we’re witnessing an exhilarating shift in the plotline! The arrival of the enigmatic Hitoshinju has sent shivers down our spines, being notorious for their electrifying antagonistic roles within the series. If there’s one thing Kishimoto and Ikemoto have made abundantly clear to us fans, it is that no character is invincible in this story. Buckle up, because things are about to get intense!

In the narrative of Boruto, there have been three significant character deaths recently, leaving fans anxious and eagerly anticipating more. It’s clear that the series, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, will witness even greater demises as the story progresses. Interestingly, the creator of the series, Mikio Ikemoto, and the overseer, Masashi Kishimoto, have hinted at more shocking deaths in earlier interviews. It’s intriguing to note that some major characters might have been eliminated much sooner in Boruto, a prospect fans would have strongly opposed.

Ikemoto Reveals A Major Character Was Spared By Him In The Manga

  • Kishimoto Wanted To Kill Some Characters
  • Ikemoto Spared Their Lives

In Boruto, it’s clear that neither author intends to make fans feel secure about any character’s survival. The story is designed such that any and all characters could potentially face danger. For instance, Yodo’s death in Two Blue Vortex serves as a stark reminder of this fact. However, some characters have managed to avoid meeting their end in Boruto, despite the odds seemingly stacked against them.

I’ll send you to the same place I sent the Seventh, Boruto. — Kawaki

As per Ikemoto, the narrative of Boruto is constantly evolving, and he, as the writer, plays a significant role in this transformation owing to recent storyline advancements. Initially, some elements that Kishimoto had outlined in his early drafts were in line with Ikemoto’s thoughts, but due to the unfolding of the plot, those aspects were eventually altered. In Ikemoto’s words, these changes led to certain characters being given a reprieve from certain fates.

Occasionally, events don’t follow the expected course. From the very start, minor adjustments have been made. Over time, however, the narrative strays from Kishimoto-sensei’s blueprint. There are several reasons for this deviation. But the primary cause is that I felt compelled to devise a fresh ending for the shonen genre and a concept for the seinen segment.

After making that decision, Ada and Demon came into being, while Kashin Koji’s responsibilities were redefined. Amado fled to Konoha shortly after, and it was thought that Code should have perished long ago. To put it frankly, a character of great significance also managed to survive. Despite the intention to make the manga more captivating, we find ourselves straying quite far from our original blueprint. As it stands, I believe the most daunting task in crafting Boruto, even for Kishimoto-sensei who supports my efforts, is navigating these unanticipated shifts in the plot.

Could Naruto Have Been Killed Off By Kishimoto In Boruto?

The Chances of Naruto’s Death Are Huge

As a devoted fan, there’s just one pivotal moment in Mikio Ikemoto’s masterpieces that constantly lingers in my mind – the potential demise of Naruto Uzumaki. Interestingly, Ikemoto hinted that Code could have met his end much earlier, but since the narrative has progressed, he’s miraculously survived. Remarkably, even characters more significant than Code have managed to avoid a similar fate.

Don’t join me too soon, Naruto. — Kurama to Naruto Uzumaki after his death.

In the Boruto series, particularly in Part 1, Code stands out as a significant antagonist, even surpassing Isshiki in importance. While Boruto and Kawaki hold considerable weight too, their survival is already established via the prologue. Apart from these two, only Naruto and Sasuke have been more pivotal characters than Code within the series of Boruto.

According to what Ikemoto stated, there was a possibility that either Naruto or Sasuke, or even both, were intended by Kishimoto to meet their end. Fortunately, Ikemoto altered the storyline to avoid this fate. If these characters had died, it would have been devastating for Boruto, as its popularity might have plummeted and faced heavy criticism.

The upcoming Chapter 22 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex will be released on May 20, 2025, at 10 AM Eastern Time or 3 PM Coordinated Universal Time. Fans can read it for free, as they usually do, on the Manga Plus and Shonen Jump applications.
