Summary
- Production for Avengers: Doomsday has commenced in London despite an unfinished script.
- Marvel Studios faces challenges due to actors not yet signing deals for the film.
- Uncertainty remains around the cast as more names are expected to be revealed, impacting filming.
Filming for the epic film titled “Avengers: Doomsday” officially commenced in London on April 28. Marvel Studios is hard at work creating this anticipated blockbuster, which is set for release on May 1, 2026. Interestingly, although numerous actors will participate in this crossover movie spanning multiple universes, the script has yet to be finalized.
The undertaking of Marvel Studios in creating “Avengers: Doomsday” has been a monumental task, given the upheaval caused by shifting away from the initial plans for “Avengers: Kang Dynasty.” It seems that the consequences of these changes are starting to unfold. Production on “Avengers: Doomsday” is in progress, and filming has commenced, but due to reports suggesting an unfinished script, there could be unexpected turns along the way.
As stated by John Rocha, the reason the “Avengers: Doomsday” script remains incomplete is that Marvel Studios are yet to finalize agreements with all the actors slated to appear in it. This could result in complications if some of these actors decide not to participate, necessitating adjustments that might disrupt the shooting schedule for the Russo Brothers, leading to a potentially chaotic production process. This situation, which is unusual for Marvel Studios, contrasts sharply with the organized approach audiences have become accustomed to from this franchise since its inception.
Marvel recently revealed its cast during a lengthy live broadcast a few weeks back, bringing together some of the most prominent stars from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as a few unexpected additions like several original X-Men actors. It’s unclear at this stage whether these actors have officially joined the project or if they are still unannounced. Marvel hinted that more names will be disclosed in the future, so it’s possible that those who haven’t confirmed their participation yet and haven’t signed contracts are not part of the initial lineup.
Filming commenced today in London, England, and the Russo Brothers hinted at Robert Downey Jr.’s presence as Victor Von Doom, suggesting he’s part of the first day’s shoot. It remains uncertain who else is participating. Meanwhile, Kevin Feige announced during a Thunderbolts press conference that Florence Pugh had finished her pre-production work for Avengers: Doomsday, indicating she will be involved in the film. However, it seems unlikely she’s already on set, given the current promotional activities for Thunderbolts.
*Note: “Thunderbolts” is a fictional superhero team in Marvel Comics and may not necessarily refer to an upcoming movie.
Marvel Studios would prefer to swiftly address a situation for several reasons. On one hand, it’s not ideal from a professional perspective for such news to circulate. However, the primary concern is that it could potentially impact the quality of “Avengers: Endgame.” Since the script is being developed concurrently with filming and the Russo Brothers are uncertain about which actors will be available, this predicament is challenging to manage. Given the significant role “Avengers: Endgame” plays in the franchise with its intricate storyline and numerous stars, it’s crucial to resolve this issue promptly.
