How to Get Lion Pelt in Oblivion Remastered

In The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, the Lion Pelt is an essential piece for kick-starting a lengthy adventure tied to Molag Bal, one of the Daedric Princes. At higher levels, these Mountain Lions I often face aren’t much of a challenge anymore, and snatching their pelts becomes a routine task for me.

For those unwilling to leave the fate of finding the elusive feline predator to chance in the wild, here’s a helpful guide on confirmed spawn spots that are conveniently accessible. Fortunately, you can efficiently locate these sites without much hassle. Let me walk you through it step by step.

How to Get Lion Pelt in Oblivion Remastered

In Oblivion Remastered, you can get Lion Felts as guaranteed loot from fallen Mountain Lions. But if you’d rather avoid the hunt for a Mountain Lion in various locations, there are other ways to secure Lion Felt pelts. The following methods are outlined below for your convenience.

Hunting Mountain Lions

In Cyrodiil’s forests, Mountain Lions function as mid-game adversaries. They usually show up between levels 10 and 12. Prior to reaching this level, it’s impossible to run into a Mountain Lion in the wild, so obtaining a Lion Pelt at lower levels is out of question. These creatures are often found lurking near roads or inside caves, waiting for an unwary traveler, or lying in ambush.

The Mountain Lion most likely to be spotted is the one that appears right north of the Imperial City, across the lake encircling it. Other frequently visited locations include the Blackwood Forest east of Leyawiin, in the mountains surrounding Brina’s Cross Inn north of Anvil, and in the Colovian Highlands west of Chorrol.

Fighters Guild Quest: A Rat Problem

In the Fighters Guild of Anvil, where our Hero begins his journey, the inaugural mission is titled “A Rat Problem“. This assignment involves eliminating a total of six Starved Mountain Lions. Each slain lion yields one Lion Pelt as a reward.

For this particular mission, a player’s character level doesn’t affect its outcome, making it easily achievable even for beginners at Level 1. The Starved Mountain Lions you’ll encounter are less formidable versions of regular Mountain Lions; their strength is adjusted to be comparable to your Hero’s.

Merchants

In different regions, General Goods Shops may offer Lion Furs in exchange for Gold. It is important to remember that the goods these merchants carry adjust based on your character level. A beginning character at Level 1 won’t find a Lion Pelt for sale, but as your character progresses to Level 12, you might encounter some shops selling them. Some of the vendors who occasionally stock Lion Pelts are:

Shop Location Merchant
Jensine’s “Good as New” Merchandise Imperial City Jensine
The Merchants Inn Imperial City Nilphas Omellian
Three Brothers Trade Goods Imperial City Sergius Verus
Borba’s Goods and Stores Cheydinhal Borba gra-Uzgash
Lelles’ Quality Merchandise Anvil Norbert Lelles
Best Goods and Guarantees Leyawiin Elsynia/Gundalas

How to Start Molag Bal’s Quest in Oblivion Remastered

To initiate Molag Bal’s Daedric mission, first, acquire a solitary Lion Hide and then find Molag Bal’s Sanctum west of the Imperial City (indicated above). Approach Amir, the Redguard, to kick off the quest: Molag Bal. Successfully completing this quest will bestow upon players the Mace of Molag Bal, one of the game’s strongest one-handed weapons.

Molag Bal’s quest can only be undertaken at Level 17 or above.
