Promising Soulslike Wuchang: Fallen Feathers finally gets a summer release date and a new trailer showing off its fast combat and electrifying soundtrack that blends traditional Chinese music with modern electric guitar riffs

Several games have attempted to replicate the exhilarating sensation of battling Dark Souls bosses, yet only a handful have managed to fully draw me in as effectively as Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, an upcoming Soulslike game that recently unveiled a new release date trailer showcasing its incredibly swift combat and exceptional music.

In the game, you assume the role of pirate Bai Wuchang during China’s Ming dynasty. When the game debuts on July 24, you’ll face off against the formidable enemies of Fallen Feathers, equipped with an impressive array of tools to aid you in your battles.

In the latest preview, character Bai engages in combat with a bride transformed by a grotesque force. They exchange rapid sword attacks and hurl spells of fire as background music pulsates with drums and sharp, screeching melodies from winds and strings.

Game director Xia Siyuan shares during his visit to Leenzee’s Sichuan office, as reported by Edge, that he was born and raised in this area, immersed in its vibrant culture since childhood. He has been deeply captivated by the abundant local operas, which serve not only as a form of entertainment but also retell ancient stories and legends repeatedly.

During the second round of the battle, the classic tunes transition into a style that accommodates the scorching riffs from an electric guitar, giving off a Doom-like vibe. Despite the music being a standout feature, the battle mechanics are solid and the graphics are breathtakingly beautiful.

Pre-orders for the upcoming game “Wuchang: Fallen Feathers” are available now! The game will be launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC within just three months.
