Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Scores Towerborne: Action RPG with Positive Reviews

Summary

  • Towerborne is now on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, offering subscribers diverse game library access.
  • The Xbox Game Pass lineup in March and April included exciting titles like Atomfall and The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that the acclaimed action RPG by Stoic Studio, Towerborne, has now made its way onto Xbox Game Pass Ultimate! This service from Microsoft provides a treasure trove of games, both developed in-house and by third parties, for its subscribers. If you’re looking to invest a bit more, the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate tier is definitely worth considering. It offers an exceptional value, with an EA Play membership, cloud gaming access to numerous titles, and the privilege of playing many new releases on their launch day!

In March and April, Ultimate subscribers have been treated to an array of thrilling releases on the platform. As March drew to a close, Rebellion’s post-apocalyptic alternate history action game, “Atomfall,” was unveiled. Then, in April, members of Ultimate received “South of Midnight,” “Commandos: Origins,” an unexpected release of “The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered,” and “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33,” the innovative RPG from Sandfall Interactive, among others.

On April 29th, “Towerborne” will be the final addition to Xbox Game Pass this month, followed by “Far Cry 4” on April 30th. The team behind the popular “Banner Saga” series, Stoic, has chosen a side-scrolling action RPG for their latest venture, and “Towerborne” will debut as an Xbox Game Preview title on both Xbox Series X/S and PC. This exclusive Xbox console game has been accessible in early access through Steam since September 2024, where it currently holds a “Mostly Positive” rating from users.

The developer calls Towerborne “a vibrant, repeatable blend of looting and brawling,” with its vivid color scheme and rhythmic soundtrack setting the tone. It boasts an immersive single-player mode, but as it’s not yet at version 1.0, Xbox users can only enjoy local multiplayer for now on console. Being a Play Anywhere title, however, progress made on Xbox can be seamlessly synced across to PC.

It seems that Stoic has been diligently preparing for the launch of Xbox Game Pass, as they’ve rolled out an update for Towerborne. This update introduces skill trees for the game’s four playable classes, a feature that was previously defined mostly by weapon type. Moreover, players will no longer have to pay to respec their characters, allowing them to switch skills freely at any time. These enhancements not only broaden the variety of playstyles but also increase replayability. Stoic plans to take player feedback during Towerborne’s early access/Game Preview phase into account when shaping future updates.

Starting from May 1, Xbox Game Pass is set to introduce more thrilling games, beginning with the much-anticipated “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2”. On May 6, subscribers across all tiers can look forward to playing “Dredge”, a critically acclaimed horror RPG that was released in March 2023. And on May 15, Ultimate members will receive the privilege of playing “DOOM: The Dark Ages” on its launch day!
