How To Raid In Crusader Kings 3
In the game of Crusader Kings 3, players must convert their troops into a Raiding Army to launch raids. This transformation takes place during troop recruitment; simply opt for “Raise Local Raiders” or click on your army and choose the “Begin Raiding” option from the menu located at the bottom left.
Raiding Armies will be shown with burning torches above their banner.
When your Raiding Army is positioned close to the enemy territory, players can observe possible treasures marked on the map over the enemy settlements, which serve as potential targets for their raids.
To initiate a raid, just lead your Raiding Troops into the enemy’s domain and place them on one of these properties. As soon as a raid commences, players can observe the progress circle filling up. Notably, once a raid is started, it cannot be reversed or halted, so it’s advisable to steer clear of raiding formidable adversaries who will deploy their forces to defend themselves.
Bring The Loot Back
Following a victorious attack, players won’t notice any gold or additional loot acquired directly. Rather, by mousing over their army, they can inspect the amount of loot they are transporting.
The loot will be given to players once their army makes it back to their homeland. However, if the army suffers defeat on the battlefield before then, the loot will be forfeited.

To maximize your experience with pillaging in Crusader Kings 3 and drain neighboring territories, keep these suggestions and unique aspects in mind.
- Raiding cannot be turned off until an army returns home. Nor can they be split in enemy territory.
- Make sure to acquire Torch Bearers as Nomads to speed up raids.
- Some defensive buildings, such as Marches, can make raids much slower, so avoid these.
- Holdings cannot be raided again for 5 years after being attacked.
- Rulers leading raids may gain the option to sack a county or capture slaves.
- Nomads can improve raids with unique Dynasty Legacies or with domicile buildings.
- After leading 20 successful raids, the Raider or Viking Trait can be unlocked.
- Overseas raiding can only be done with the Longships or West African Canoes innovations.
- With the Northern Adventurers DLC, some Norse rulers may be given the option to trade when raiding.
- There is a toggle for always raiding. Turning this off can prevent angering a powerful enemy.
How To Change Raid Intents In Crusader Kings 3

With the arrival of the Khans of the Steppe DLC, players are given a new feature: they can now specify the objectives of their armies during raids, which will yield various advantages in their adventures.
In the Khans of the Steppe DLC expansion, players have been granted the ability to define the purposes of their armies when going on raids, earning them multiple perks as they engage in adventures.
To proceed, click on the army and transform it into a Raiding Army if it isn’t already located at the bottom left corner. You’ll find a drop-down menu next to the ‘Always Raid’ checkbox where you can select the desired Raid Intent. Remember to confirm any changes by clicking on Confirm, instead of leaving the menu without saving.
