Implementing FOV Mod in Oblivion Remastered
- Better FOV Mod
Re-immersing myself in the breathtaking realm of Cyrodiil, as I play Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, stirs up nostalgia. Now, it’s even more captivating with the enhanced visuals courtesy of Unreal Engine 5.
On the other hand, the significant enhancement in visual quality undeniably demands more from our hardware, resulting in increased requirements that are logically very high.
Or simpler: The better the graphics get, the more powerful hardware we need, which is only logical.
Both versions convey the same meaning but with different styles and tones.
If your computer is relatively old or outdated, you may encounter performance problems while playing the game with maximum settings. This is why we provide a guide that can help you navigate through these difficulties.
Based on our thorough tests, we’ve outlined the optimal settings to ensure you can boost your frame rate significantly without compromising the game’s breathtaking graphics.
Best Graphics Settings For Oblivion Remastered
In Oblivion Remastered, you can adjust almost every visual detail thanks to its comprehensive graphics options menu. However, while the ‘Ultra’ setting might seem appealing, it isn’t necessarily the ideal option for consistent gameplay performance.
Copy the settings below as they balance impressive visuals and solid framerate.

---|---|
Window Mode | Borderless |
Display Resolution | Native |
Resolution Scale | 100 |
V-Sync | On |
Frame Rate Limit | Personal Choice |

FOV 1st Person | Personal Choice |
Motion Blur | Off |
Screen Space Reflections | Off |
View Distance Quality | Medium |
Effects Quality | High |
Foliage Quality | Medium |
Shadow Quality | Medium |
Global Illumination Quality | High |
Texture Quality | Ultra (GPU VRAM Dependent) |
Reflection Quality | High |

Cloth Quality | High |
Lumen Hardware RT | Off |
Lumen Software RT Quality | High |
Additional Notes

- TEXURE QUALITY: Texture Quality doesn’t impact performance much — unless your GPU runs out of VRAM. If you have 8GB of VRAM, it’s best to stick with Low or Medium settings. If your GPU has more than 8GB of VRAM, feel free to crank it up to Ultra without worrying about performance dips.
- LUMEN HARDWARE RT: Lumen Hardware Ray Tracing offers a noticeable boost in visual fidelity but comes with a significant performance cost. If your system can handle it, and you want ray tracing enabled, we recommend setting it to Low.
- UPSCALING: If the performance gains from these tweaks aren’t enough, you’ll need to rely on upscaling. For NVIDIA RTX GPU owners, DLSS Quality is the clear choice. If you’re using a GPU from another vendor, such as AMD or Intel, XeSS Ultra Quality is your best bet.
- FRAME GENERATION: To push your framerate even further, you can enable Frame Generation technology. Just keep in mind: it’s best to use Frame Generation only if your base framerate is at least 60 FPS, to avoid input latency and stuttering.
Make sure you disable Camera Motion within the Gameplay settings under Accessibility, as it may lead to discomfort or even headaches for certain users.
Implementing FOV Mod in Oblivion Remastered

In addition to the current improvements in Oblivion Remastered, there’s another tweak you might consider for a more comfortable viewing experience. This adjustment won’t necessarily enhance performance, but it’s definitely worth implementing for aesthetic reasons.
Better FOV Mod
For some gamers, the in-game field of view (FOV) adjustment for both first- and third-person perspectives, which ranges from 70 to 100, might feel limiting. Fortunately, the Better FOV mod by Caites broadens the FOV range up to 140, offering you significantly more flexibility.
How to Install:
- Download the mod from NexusMods (you’ll need a free account).
- Extract the .rar file you just downloaded.
- Copy all three files from the archive.
- Paste them into this folder: GameDirectory\Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Content\Paks\~mods
(You’ll need to create the ~mods folder.)
Here you go! Now, let’s get started by firing up the game. Navigate to the settings menu and adjust your field of view using the wide-angle slider. This will allow you to customize your field of view in both first-person and third-person views.
