The Gray Champion, uncontested ruler of the Arena, has long been on the lookout for an adversary willing to engage in combat with him. Upon their initial visit to the Arena, players can converse with him, but unfortunately, they won’t learn why he bears a gray hue. Nevertheless, the Gray Champion presents a quest that delves into his lineage and birthright, enriching the narrative of his character.
In this guide, I’ll take you through my own adventure on the “Origin of the Gray Prince” quest and explain what transpires after its completion within the remastered version of “The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion”. Let’s get started!
Keep in mind that if you’re aiming for a square-off with the Gray Prince, it’s best not to finish this quest as it makes the battle much easier. The battle itself can be quite tough, particularly for lower levels, so you’ll need to weigh whether taking him on is worth the struggle. The rewards will stay consistent either way.

How To Start the Origin of the Gray Prince in Oblivion Remastered
To embark on your journey, navigate towards the Arena situated in the Imperial City, a place where you can enter fierce battles against tough opponents to accumulate Gold as a prize. Upon stepping within the Bloodworks, locate the Gray Prince engaged in combat on the right-hand side. Engage in conversation with him, and he will disclose his ancestry. He will then entrust you with a key and task you with venturing to Crowhaven to uncover details about his birthright.
After wrapping up the discussion, exit the Arena and make a quick trip to Anvil, located southwest on your map. Make your way towards the designated spot, which will eventually lead you to Crowhaven. Outside its entrance, you’ll find some skeletons to dispatch before entering through the ground-floor door. Delve deeper into Crowhaven, sticking closely to the linear path and eliminating any enemies that cross your path. Eventually, you’ll encounter a gate; proceeding through it, you’ll have two directions to choose from.

To the southwest lies the entrance to the Burial Grounds, not your usual route, but it hides several chests filled with Gold. Be prepared for spectral enemies and Vampires guarding these treasures. If you proceed through the wooden door to the southeast, beware as Lord Lovidicus will ambush you there. Should you contract Porphyric Hemophilia in this encounter, remember to cure it by visiting an Altar of the Nine at any Chapel or by completing a lengthy quest.
After handling Lord Lovidicus, proceed to his private study where you’ll discover several items, including the Journal of Lord Lovidicus on a desk near a brazier and statue. Read the journal and retrieve it. Then return to the Gray Prince and share your findings with him. Once at the Arena again, speak to the Gray Prince and present him with the journal. This action will finish the quest, and he’ll teach you Gray Prince’s Training, granting +3 bonus to Blade, Block, and Athletics skills.
How To Beat The Gray Prince In Oblivion Remastered
After learning that the Gray Prince is a Vampire’s offspring, he will ask you to leave, so in the interim, you must win all your matches in the Arena. Once you become the Champion, then you can discuss the prospect of battling him, and at this point, he may request that you end his suffering. Speak with Ysabel Andronicus to prepare for your final Arena combat and change back to your standard armor set, even though it won’t be necessary.

After passing through the gates, you’ll discover that Agronak gro-Malog isn’t interested in a fight and instead requests that you slay him. Afterward, deal the final blow, gather his belongings, and his Raiment, then make your way back to Ysabel. There, you can decide whether you prefer a Heavy or Light version of the Raiment of Valor. With this action, you’ll receive the Raiment and 1000 Gold, thus concluding the Arena questline.

Stepping out of the Arena, you’ll be taken aback to encounter an Eager Supporter eagerly awaiting your exit. This devotee will request permission to tag along, as you are the Triumphant Winner from the Arena.
