Bethesda fans briefly panic as Todd retires – but not Todd Howard, so you can get back to calmly playing Oblivion Remastered: “They really shouldn’t have allowed two Todds to work there”

Fans experienced a momentary worry when Todd Vaughn announced his retirement from Bethesda Softworks, sparking speculation about the possible departure of Todd Howard.

For nearly three decades, Vaughn labored at the successful game production facility. Ascending through the organization, he ultimately assumed the position of Senior Vice President of Development. In this role, he managed colossal titles such as Skyrim, Fallout 4, the revamped Doom, and more recently, Oblivion Remastered. As per his LinkedIn profile, it appears that Vaughn now jointly owns a brewery – an intriguing concept for a role-playing game simulation, I must admit.

Upon learning the news, some fans on Reddit from Bethesda experienced a small panic. One comment read, “I read this too quickly; I saw ‘Bethesda,’ ‘Todd,’ and ‘retired.’ You know if and when Todd Howard retires, he’ll still find a way to unveil a remastered version of Skyrim.

As a gamer, I can’t help but chuckle at the thought that they should’ve kept just one Todd at their workplace. It gets pretty mixed up having two Todds around, if you ask me! Another fellow enthusiast chimes in, saying there was only enough space for one Todd in this town.

Indeed, the news has sparked discussions once more about Todd Howard potentially retiring, as he suggested that The Elder Scrolls 6 might be his final project. He hinted at this by saying, “I shouldn’t really say this, but if I do the math, I’m not getting any younger. How long do people play Elder Scrolls for? That [The Elder Scrolls 6] may be the last one I do. I don’t know.

It appears that the game in question is unlikely to be launched for several years yet. The latest original game from their studio was Starfield in 2023, and they continue to refine the space saga, promising numerous exciting updates for it this year.
