The following contains minor spoilers from the Solo Leveling manhwa.
By the close of Season 2 in “Solo Leveling”, it’s evident that Sung Jinwoo has reached an unprecedented level of strength. The raid on Jeju Island, a challenge that had been hinted at throughout two seasons, seemed insurmountable even for all Korea’s elite S-rank hunters, should they have banded together.
Due to Jinwoo’s “shadow soldiers,” he swiftly handled the ant infestation on Jeju Island, even managing to defeat the Ant King in a single combat. While Jinwoo outperforms most hunters we’ve encountered in the anime, one wonders how he would fare in a fight against Korean hunters without his shadow army’s assistance. If all S-rank hunters joined forces to attack him simultaneously under these conditions, could he still emerge victorious?
The Hunters Have a Chance
Sung Jinwoo Might Struggle Against Their Combined Might

Despite not having the advantage of a “shadow army,” the main character from the series “Solo Leveling,” Sung Jinwoo, remains incredibly powerful. He boasts an impressive collection of honed skills and gear that amplify his already phenomenal strength, speed, and resilience. Nevertheless, it’s worth noting that Jinwoo has sustained injuries in the past at the hands of other elite S-rank hunters.
In a sparring session with Goto Ryuji, Jinwoo sustained a facial wound when attempting to halt his assault without weapons. This indicates that Jinwoo, despite being in the same tier as other S-rank hunters, was still capable of going toe-to-toe with them. Notably, Goto Ryuji seemed to acknowledge the formidable force emanating from Cha Hae-In, implying that she might be equally strong or nearly as powerful as him.
In a theoretical clash, even though Jinwoo lacks a shadow army, some of the combined Korean S-rank hunters might inflict damage on him. If Jinwoo can be hurt, that implies there could possibly be a winning scenario for the hunters, however slim the chances may seem.
In the latter stages of the comic, it becomes clear that Chae Hae-In possesses significant power. She easily overpowers Igris when armed with Baran’s Longsword, and puts up a good fight against a subdued Beru shadow wielding a training weapon.
How Would it Go?
Jinwoo Would Still Come Out With a Win

In the fictional world of Solo Leveling, Sung Jinwoo wouldn’t find it a walk in the park to confront every top-ranked Korean hunter without his shadow army. However, given his exceptional speed, he could potentially outmaneuver them and come out on top. It’s plausible that Choi Jong-In, with his fire magic, could inflict damage from a distance. Moreover, Cha Hae-In’s incredible speed means Jinwoo must stay vigilant throughout the fight to avoid being caught off guard.
In my perspective, what makes Jinwoo’s battle even more challenging is the presence of the S-rank healer, Min Byung-Gyu. If left unchecked, this healer can sustain an endless cycle of combat among the Korean S-ranks. To triumph, Jinwoo must strategize a way to neutralize Byung-Gyu and weaker S-ranks first, ensuring they stay incapacitated long enough for him to tackle the stronger adversaries effectively.
“Cute, a bug is talking.” -Sung Jinwoo
Despite being far stronger than any Korean S-rank individually in terms of physical prowess, Jinwoo’s abilities are primarily designed for single combat encounters. His two hands limit his options, while Korean S-ranks have demonstrated impressive teamwork capabilities. If all Korean S-ranks were to engage him simultaneously at full strength, it might take Jinwoo some time to devise an effective strategy if he couldn’t rely on his shadow army for assistance.
In the heat of battle, it’s evident that Jinwoo possesses an uncanny ability to strategize and utilize his surroundings effectively, making him a formidable force. His physical prowess, combined with his agility, gives him an edge over even the elite S-rank Korean hunters in combat. Though he hasn’t yet reached the pinnacle of power, it won’t be long before he achieves a level where mere humans would struggle to leave even the slightest mark on him.
Solo Leveling can be streamed on Crunchyroll and Amazon.
