One reason why the initial season of Andor struck a chord with viewers is due to its captivating characters. Both familiar ones from the Star Wars universe and fresh faces graced our screens, adding depth to the storyline. Additionally, it offered a more realistic perspective, infused with occasional humor – often through the use of dark wit – while maintaining a strong focus on drama and suspense as its primary themes.

The allocated budget was larger, which gave everything a more authentic lived-in feel rather than an appearance through projected screens. Fans of the characters in Andor season 2 will not be let down, as there are some fantastic character developments where secrets are revealed, loyalties are challenged, and the Rebellion is established.

8. Bix Caleen

One Big Moment

Played By: Adria Arjona

In the first season of “Andor”, Bix played a more significant part compared to the second. Instead of having a major role, she was primarily utilized to inspire Cassian throughout season two. However, she did have some standout scenes, with the most memorable one occurring in episode six where she avenges her own torment by torturing Gorst, the same man who had tortured her in the previous season, and later, Cassian aids in blowing up his lab.

Additionally, Bix departed during the ninth episode, which provided Cassian with a motive to commit to the Rebellion rather than Bix, and simultaneously concealed the possibility that she might have been carrying his unborn child.

7. Vel Sartha

Fighting Through Loss

Played By: Faye Marsay

In the narrative, Vel emerged as an influential female character during season one, however, her storyline expanded more significantly compared to Bix’s in season two. She primarily served as a catalyst for the people of Ghorman, orchestrating smuggling operations of imperial loot. This clandestine activity eventually sparked their uprising.

In the heat of our daring smuggling operation, my beloved Cinta fell victim, yet her spirit for resistance remained undeterred. The Empire may not have pulled the trigger, but their indifference fueled my resolve to carry on the fight.

6. Kleya Marki

A True Luthen Believer

Played By: Elizabeth Dulau

Kleya turned out to be one of Andor’s most compelling characters gradually, even though she was initially presented as Luthen’s assistant throughout the series. The pivotal scene for her character unfolded in episode ten, where she played a crucial role in rescuing Luthen from the hospital and also revealed her past with him, offering a deeper understanding of her character.

As a devoted film enthusiast, I wholeheartedly embraced Luthen’s cause from my early days, despite our frequent disagreements reminiscent of feuding felines. Yet, it was this very episode that truly showcased my femme fatale essence, indelibly etching my impact on season two in the final moments before the credits rolled.

5. Orson Krennic

Slimy As Ever

Played By: Ben Mendelsohn

Initially appearing as the main antagonist in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”, Director Krennic climbed the ranks of Imperial bureaucracy, earning both admiration and contempt. This character’s impressive portrayal by Ben Mendelsohn significantly contributed to his notable status. In season two of “Andor”, Director Krennic made a reappearance for several episodes.

In the series ‘Andor’, every detail – each appearance and line – shimmered like a delicate thread of gold, a sight no antagonist could withstand, except for one. Despite his minor role, his ominous presence effectively conveyed the message that the Empire is merciless.

4. K-2SO

Rebuilt And Ready

Played By: Alan Tudyk

In the same vein as Director Krennic, the character K-2SO made his debut in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and had a relatively small presence during the second season of Andor. Notably, he appeared even less than Director Krennic, since this witty droid didn’t show up until the end of episode nine and reappeared only in episode eleven.

Despite passing time, my moments with K-2SO serve as a refresher of his excellent portrayal in the film. His straightforward comments are hilarious, his loyalty endearing, and he’s more than capable of handling himself in a fight when needed.

3. Cassian Andor

A Flawed Rebel

Played By: Diego Luna

It’s somewhat ironic that despite being the title character, Cassian isn’t the main focus in his own show, particularly in season two. While season one centered more on him, season two seemed to devote more attention to other characters. This approach actually improved the show, but it doesn’t diminish the fact that Cassian still had notable moments in season two.

In the initial storyline, Cassian’s involvement with the Maya Pei rebels is impressive; his affection for Bix is heartwarming, and his allegiance towards his fellow companions is admirable. What truly sets him apart, however, is that he has flaws – a trait that underscores the idea that heroes need not be flawless to be noble. After all, any rebellion, by its very nature, is bound to be chaotic.

2. Luthen Rael

Deal With The Devil

Played By: Stellan Skarsgard

Though Cassian had his flaws, Luthen was unwaveringly committed, even performing questionable actions, yet it was for the sake of peace. He appeared to be a cunning businessman dealing in antiques on the surface, but this facade concealed his efforts to support Rebel factions financially.

In the twelfth episode, despite not always making the correct choices, Cassian eloquently expressed this sentiment to the Rebel Council: Luthen had given everything for the cause, including his very life, a standard no one could ever hope to surpass.

1. Syril Karn

Believing In The Empire

Played By: Kyle Soller

Eventually, Syril held faith in the principles the Empire upheld: order. At first glance, it appears beneficial to have a single administrative body ensuring everyone’s safety, but there is always the layer of propaganda involved. Time and time again, this was what Syril wholeheartedly accepted, only for it to ultimately betray him. This sentiment reached its peak in episode eight.

Dedra abandoned his principles. As Ghorman disintegrated before him, Dedra spotted Cassian and broke down. Maybe deep within himself, he believed that Cassian’s demise would give his life purpose, but instead, it resulted in Syril’s death – a heartbreaking loss for a character with flaws yet still endearing and identifiable.
