This post contains SPOILERS for Solo Leveling and Solo Leveling Ragnarok Manhwa.
Summary
- Rulers rebelled against the Absolute Being, who created them for entertainment, leading to his demise on his throne.
- Absolute Being may not have fought back due to a lack of fighting skills, making him vulnerable to the Rulers’ attack.
- Absolute Being’s non-interference in his own demise raises questions about his motives, hinting at possible hidden motivations.
In the world of Solo Leveling, we encounter extraordinary beings such as Monarchs and Rulers. By the series’ conclusion, our protagonist Jinwoo ascends to an almost divine status, capable of existing outside of time and space. Yet, among these otherworldly entities, one remained relatively unknown – the Absolute Being.
Indeed, viewers do gain some insights into the Itarim deities in the Ragnarok series, but many mysteries about the Itarim species remain unresolved. The question that intrigues everyone who follows Solo Leveling is how exactly the Rulers managed to slay the Absolute Being. Given that he was a God who spawned the Rulers and Monarchs, it seems almost implausible for a creation to vanquish its creator. At present, there’s no definitive response to this conundrum in the Solo Leveling series, but several compelling theories abound.
The Rulers’ Rebellion Against Their Creator, The Absolute Being
Rulers Killed The Absolute Being On His Throne In Solo Leveling
From the perspective of a curious observer:
In the grand cosmic tapestry, I’ve come to understand that the Primordial Entity birthed the Luminaries and the Monarchs from the realms of light and darkness respectively. Yet, there’s no trace of affection in this tale; instead, it seems the Itarim found amusement in setting these creations against each other for all eternity.
However, when the Luminaries uncovered their role as perpetual combatants, staged to please the Primordial Entity, they rose up in defiance of their God. This is where things get intriguing: we’re talking about a being who holds the power to create and annihilate life itself. So, how could such a being ever lose to his own offspring?
This is more than just a cosmic chess match; it’s a battle of wills, a struggle for dominance, and a testament to the resilience of creation challenging its creator. The answer to this conundrum remains elusive, but the tale is captivating nonetheless.
In the story of “Solo Leveling,” it’s speculated that the Absolute Being might not have engaged in combat during his encounter with the Rulers. Since the Absolute Being was found dead on his throne, it implies he didn’t actively participate in a battle. If this is true, it raises an intriguing question: why didn’t he choose to fight? It could very well be that the Absolute Being was simply unaware of how to fight effectively.
The Absolute Being was a divine entity with the ability to create or destroy life, but he wasn’t much of a combatant. In contrast, Rulers were specifically designed for battle and have been engaged in an endless war against the Monarchs. Their extensive knowledge about the Absolute Being, combined with their determination to defeat their creator, gave them the advantage. Ultimately, the Absolute Being was unable to defend himself against the onslaught of all the Rulers and was slain while seated on his throne.
You are my chronicle of battles fought, the proof of your resilience, and the prize of your hardships. I am death, I am everlasting peace, I am fear itself. – Revised by Ashborn
If the Supreme Entity, an Itarim, wasn’t skilled in combat, why is Jinwoo concerned about other Itarim trying to conquer Earth? If the Rulers can defeat the Absolute Being, couldn’t Jinwoo handle other Itarims easily? I wish it were that straightforward, but it isn’t. The Rulers managed to bring down just one Itarim being collectively. In contrast, Jinwoo has been defending Earth from multiple Itarims simultaneously. Moreover, it’s essential to remember that Jinwoo is not engaging the Itarims head-on; instead, he’s battling the inexhaustible forces spawned by the Itarim Deities — Apostles.
Because the Itarim Gods are not combatants, they have been deploying their inventions for the gritty tasks. Fascinatingly, the Itarims wielding their potent creations in battles against the Rulers and Jinwoo’s Shadow Army is consistent with the belief that Itarims can’t engage in direct combat. However, there’s another compelling assumption that suggests Itarims do have the ability to fight. This theory presumes that the Supreme Entity chose not to engage in battle, not due to an incapacity, but because he preferred not to resort to violence.
The Absolute Being Could Have Simply Destroyed The Rulers Using Magic
But The Mystery Behind Why He Didn’t Erase Rulers Out Of Existence Is Interesting
It’s possible that the Absolute Being chose not to eliminate the Rulers to keep the cosmic equilibrium intact. By doing so, he might have prevented the entire universe from collapsing due to imbalance.
Unusually, it was Ashborn, the Shadow Monarch, who petitioned the Supreme Being to halt this ongoing conflict. He foresaw a widespread uprising among the other Rulers. Rather than eliminating them immediately, he had the power to do so, but chose not to. Instead, he allowed the rebellion to take its course and did not intervene, even when the Rulers took his life without resistance. It seems that he appeared indifferent to resisting, or perhaps the divine entity saw no reason for existence beyond this. In a sense, he may have been curious about what lay beyond death, since he created the Monarchs and Rulers out of idleness.
Lastly, let’s keep in mind that the Solo Leveling: Ragnarok series is still unfinished, and it has provided some insights about Itarim. Consequently, the apparent ease with which the Supreme Entity was defeated might be misleading; there could be another explanation entirely. We know that this Divine entity concealed the power of the Shadow Monarch within Ashborn, and there must be a purpose behind this act. By endowing Ashborn with powers of both light and darkness, the entity made Ashborn a sort of ‘part Itarim’. In fact, the powers bestowed upon Ashborn could potentially be a fragment of the entity itself. If this is true, the being that the Rulers killed in the past might not have been the full Absolute Entity. Perhaps the Absolute Entity sought to survive through Ashborn instead.
In time, this power gets transferred to Jinwoo, implying that a part of the Supreme Entity continues to exist. If any of this is valid, then it’s plausible that the Supreme Entity concealed another piece of his power elsewhere. This hidden fragment could potentially be in the possession of either Sung Jinwoo or Sung Suho, which they might need to use against the armies of Itarims.
