In the realm of One Piece, a myriad of enchanting islands abound, and the Grand Line is such an expansive, imaginative space that it seems everything one could conceive of resides there. However, there are certain locales that are spoken of as if they were mere whispers in folklore or places shrouded in legend.
In the realm of “One Piece”, there’s a sea, known as The All Blue, which few in modern times have had the chance to lay eyes on, earning it the status of a legendary destination. Similarly, Laugh Tale on the Grand Line, also known as the Final Island, carries immense significance within the narrative. Interestingly, Roger, a key character, was said to have visited Laugh Tale and discovered the One Piece. However, there exists a location in the “One Piece” world that is even more legendary than Laugh Tale; Oda has already hinted at its existence as early as chapter 224 of the series.
An Island More Legendary Than Laugh Take — The Emerald City
- First Mentioned By Bellamy
- Debut Chapter One Piece 224
It’s indisputable that Laugh Tale is a legendary island in the world of One Piece. However, you won’t find it by continuing along the Log Pose. The Log Pose does indeed have an endpoint, but it only leads to Lodestar Island. It’s on Lodestar where the truth about the Road Poneglyphs is finally unveiled – these artifacts are the key to finding the Final Island, Laugh Tale. Once you collect all four Road Poneglyphs, then and only then can you reach Laugh Tale.
Dreamers may fancy names like “Sky Island,” “City of Gold,” or “Emerald City,” but those are just figments of the imagination to me! – Bellamy
In the world of One Piece, Laugh Tale is unique, but there’s another island shrouded in even greater legend – the Emerald City. Mentioned just once in chapter 224, Bellamy was the first to speak of it. As its name implies, the Emerald City is a place where everything glows green and is covered in emeralds. However, to many, it remains a myth. Despite this, it’s not a figment of imagination – Oda has hinted at its existence through the Harley.
First World
Fire swept across the land, causing humans to give in to their passions and reach for the prohibited sun. Slaves pleaded, and a god of the sun manifested. The earth god grew furious, teaming up with the serpent of eternal flames to cover the world in death and shadow. From that day on, they were never to meet again.
Second World
The air vibrated with life, awakening ancient spirits in the emptiness. The Forest Deity unleashed its demons. The Sun merely ignited the flames of conflict. The inhabitants of the crescent moon and the inhabitants of the full moon had visions. People killed the Sun and ascended to divinity. The Sea God erupted with fury. They would never cross paths again.
Breath stirred within the void, and the Forest God sent forth demons. The Sun did nothing but spread the fires of war. The people of the half-moon dreamed, the people of the full-moon dreamed. Humans slew the Sun and became Gods, and the Sea God raged. They Would never meet again.)
Third World
Amidst turmoil, silence prevails. In the heart of the storm’s shadow, whispers of a tranquil tomorrow echo, along with the faint melody of a shattered moon. The Radiant One revels and giggles, guiding us towards our twilight hours. A new Sun will rise again, and a fresh morn shall break. Indeed, this reunion seems inevitable.
Why Emerald City Existed In The First World
All Signs Point To It Being Lost To Time
Primarily, fans should unravel the Harley artifact and grasp that it hints at an advanced civilization from 3000 years ago, which harnessed nuclear power. This is suggested by its depiction of flames, or as we might say, “Mother Flame.” In Egghead, Motherflame bears the inscription “AΜ,” which translates to “A to Mu” or “Atom” in Japanese. Interestingly, the serial number of the Mother Flame, S-108, corresponds with Esteban, meaning “Child of Sun,” suggesting that the Mother Flame represents nuclear energy. In essence, the Mother Flame symbolizes atomic power.
Regarding nuclear energy, enthusiasts are well aware that Uranium holds a crucial position. This element, often referred to as the “Mother Flame’s Undying Flame,” is believed to have been mined primarily in the first industrialized world, leading to widespread slavery. However, it’s important to note that Uranium isn’t solely used for nuclear purposes. In fact, Ur has been utilized in craftsmanship and even glassmaking! This specific type of glass is known as Uranium Glass, and it exhibits a unique characteristic: when exposed to sunlight, it emits a green glow. Essentially, the city known as the Emerald City could be referred to as the Ancient City where the harnessing of the Mother Flame occurred extensively during the First World, and potentially again in the Second World.
It’s quite possible that this location served as the foundation for an ancient kingdom, though its exact modern-day location remains undiscovered.
